Biggest area to fix?

From my point of view, the D-line is the biggest area that we need improvement. Our D line provided very little pressure. To add, they were manhandled at the line of scrimmage on way too many plays. Next to the D line, I would like the WR corps, get some improvement. While I agree our QBs didn't do a great job. I would argue that our WRs didn't help by not getting open. Ultimately, better play calling could help. However; losing the battle of the line of scrimmage will often result in loses. I would like to see Key recruit some beef for that front D line. We need a 310 lb hog molly to clog that middle up. If we can find a DE that can do a couple of power moves, to put pressure on the QB, that would be icing on the cake. What areas do you think need the most improvement? I get the whole team needs to improve. I am looking at fixing the area that needs it the most.

OL. If we have a good OL, the offense will click and the playbook will open up.

If the DL is a weak spot, you can cover it up a little bit with the other 7 guys. If the OL isn't up to task - there is no fix.

It has to start with a solid OL. But, to your point, DL is a close 2nd.

And I would substitute the word "improve" for the word "fix." Just my opinion.

Need to replace a linebacker and DE, maybe add a piece or two. Other than that Defense might be better next year. Really need some depth at WR.

#1 thing is that the OL needs to improve. The whole offense might start looking better if that happens.

#1b is that we need to get something (anything) out of the tight ends.

#2 is punting and punt returns. We’re losing the field position battle and putting both the O and D in a hole regularly.

We’ve also got big shoes to fill at LB.

I think both LOS need to step forward this spring/summer. Lots more S&C for all of them. The OL made a significant step forward this year from the midpoint on (about the time Key took over, I love to know what he changed). Given how that build went with all the early 1-and-done transfers, that's pretty much on schedule. The DL absolutely *must* step up. We are losing the best LB tandem we've had in years and they covered a lot of DL mistakes (both logging 100+ tackles). The younger guys who replace them next season cannot be expected to reproduce that, so the DL better make the step. If the OL makes another giant step forward, as they well should, and the O can sustain drives better, that will take major pressure off the DL. So, I see them working in a complimentary manner and both definitely need to improve.

Other groups:
RB's are good, but still need to advance in the absence of Hall
WR's are losing a lot of firepower, but there are some good ones behind them, and they need to step up
TE's just need to show up. This is the biggest black hole on our O right now, IMPO

LB has some young talent, but it is unproven
DB should be the best of the bunch

1. OL play, this is why I am wondering why CBK was hired, however if the GTAA is worried about the buyout I guess he comes in fairly cheap.
2. OC, OL, WR coach hires as if we get the right people, and create the right identity we will be able to win 6-7 games on the annual ala Chan Gailey

I am 100% with you on wondering why Key was hired. I feel that if you fail at a lower level, you don't deserve any promotions.

We need help at DE, LB, WR & TE. Maybe RB as well.

1. TE
2. DL
3. OL
4. OC
5. Punter and special teams in general

It’s not lost on me that we are losing talent at LB and WR, but I think we will find players who can step into these positions and be productive. I also think our OL showed some improvement late in the year and expect that to continue, but there is still plenty of work to be done here.

Offense, yes OL is #1 but nothing was good on that side of the ball. We are so bad that mediocre performance looks like success.

We have to have an OC with a good scheme and knows how to implement it. We haven’t seen that in 4 years.
