Biggest area to fix?

Offense, yes OL is #1 but nothing was good on that side of the ball. We are so bad that mediocre performance looks like success.

We have to have an OC with a good scheme and knows how to implement it. We haven’t seen that in 4 years.
Got that right. As much as people hated CPJ, the man had a potent offense. At least better than what we've had. I think we can find an OC that can run pro sets and not be boring. I don't see Key going for the option.

The entire history of college football disagrees with this statement.
Cheering harder isn't going to equal more wins. The coaches and players win or lose games. The fans may make life rough for visiting teams. Ultimately, it comes down to Xs and Os and Jocks and Joes.

Coaching was the biggest problem. Hopefully we nipped that one in the bud. Oh, and the line in both sides of the ball.

the 23 recruiting class has been lackluster given the coaching uncertainty..currently rank at 62.
Key needs to flip a couple of HS 4stars and fill needs with transfer portal.
just make improvements.. go key go

Fan support comes in many forms, and I would argue if our atmosphere were better on gameday we would have better retention from big time players and players playing harder. It matters a little bit. What matters far more is having a rabid fanbase throwing money at the program.

Honestly, the entire team needs improvement across the board. Let's hope that we can get some good recruits and players from the portal who are smart, tough, hungry, committed, and focused. We don't need guys who are only concerned about chasing NIL money. If you do what you're supposed to do, the NIL money will come chasing you.

Without question biggest need for improvement is OL. Next is a punter. He doesn't have to boom 50 yarders, but he has to get rid of it timely and with height. Finally, we need production at TE. DL was actually one of our strengths.

A good offensive line can make up for deficiencies elsewhere. I think we need to build a strategy behind becoming a big man factory.

Key has a soft spot for this position. O-lineman are one of the more intelligent football groups and would fit with GT's academics. We need to build out the NIL deals in this space (e.g. the Hooters NIL deal). Easier said than done but feel this could be a calling card for Tech.

Amazing how good Kirby looks as a coach when you have #88 just bull rushing his way through the line every play.
He's really not that great of a coach. He's a heck of a recruiter. He's been given keys to the kingdom and now he can basically sit back and watch the show. Must be nice to have resources like that, SMH.

I would argue having faith in what you're throwing money at, matters. It's hard to give money to program that you don't agree with or like. Winning changing a lot of things. Losing only make people more careful on where their money goes.

Two questions:
  1. Can a punting motion be completely reworked in an offseason? Shanahan had to make a change from rugby style to a more traditional look to stop the bleeding. Does an offseason give him enough time to learn to put some hang time on a ball?
  2. We are down to 2 scholarship QBs. Definitely feel Pyron is the path forward but do we need another horse in the stable? If so, who?

I am haring that Stetson Bennet is angling toward a 7th year of eligibility and is transferring to Tech to be near Buster.

Going to take 2-3 years under key to build the OL how he wanted to when he was first hired under collins. He will build it ground up, slowly, recruiting it. But it will get alot better.

OL is 1 for me
DL and sp teams are 2.

I would say Red Zone offense, which implies that improvement is needed across the board. And yes, I think that kind of improvement is what’s needed.

(1) -If we don't get immediate strong help in the Portal at LB then the whole def will deflate since the (2) DL is another weak area. The (3) OL has a chance to be better but until it does the OFF will struggle mightily.
The other areas while not strong are decent. or fixable.

Yes, a punting motion can be reworked completely in less than an offseason. My son was recruited by GT and others as a punter/kicker. He attended Carol White camps and one Ray Guy camp for kickers, punters and long snappers. He later became a counselor for those camps all over the southeast. (He did attend GT and graduated with honors in ME when O"Leary was there) There are drills, very boring drills, that you must do over and over and over until you can do them in your sleep. Not fun, but it works. When I was at GT, our kicker was so bad that the coach, Bud Carson, put an invitation in the Technique requesting any student to try out. The kicker worked his tail off during the offseason and never lost his job.

It’s important to have good lines? Come on? Tell me more.
