Black Watch Uniforms for Saturday

I'm a boomer. Right smack in the middle of it. I love those unis. I far prefer navy blue as a contrasting color, personally, but that black watch uni was so unique (no pun intended)! The only change I would have made was to go with the gold britches, but this is by far good enough for me.

Oh, and I agree, why just the once?

It conjures up remembrances of Roof, Swilling, and Lee.

Seems like a lot of schools with modern light systems are blacking out the field between quarters or after scores or whatever.

We tried to do it with our new light system in 2020 but of course it didn’t work right and the lights got stuck off for a few minutes. LOL.

My overall response to black uniforms is...meh.

But, much much better than the old black watch uniforms. They used a lot more white this time, which at least makes it look like this is a black uniform for a white and gold team, vs. being Purdue or Vanderbilt or...... Colorado *gasp*

More white on the helmet really makes it pop and at least gives it white and gold elements. I'm not a hater but I'm glad we are not muddling the brand for our bigger games. I've never understood the nostalgia for something we did in a 9 win season In the middle of one of the most mediocre eras of GT football.

I was going to ask if we've messed with that since. Was watching a game this past weekend where they did kind of light twinkle/strobe after a TD. Since we have the tech, it seems like something we surely should have worked the operational kinks out of by now.

That's why I always associate G/W/G with GT. Loved it when we wore than for home and away during the GOL years. Again though I do like the Gold Helmets with the dark jersey look...The NO Saints first came to mind to me when I saw these as opposed to Purdue/Vandy lol

FWIW, it's all about who wears it best. It's a great look and if Tech wins in it, it will become ours.

The GT looks amazing on that helmet in black outlined in white.

It also addresses a problem I'm really sick of seeing which is all of the mixed "gold" colors. The jersey being a yellow, helmet gold, numbers in metallic gold. Just a hodge podge of mixed and non-complimentary golds/yellows. It's an old problem that never gets fixed.

I would love to have the all white and the all black as our two standard uniforms and then mix in others as appropriate. Just my opinion. But those blacks look absolutely amazing, I couldn't care less if there are others with similar looks.
 
We look like Mama GT got pregnant, and we're not sure if it's Purdue, Vanderbilt, or the Now Orleans Saints is the father. Can we do this with white hats and white pants?
