the choices seem limitless per wikipedia for ACC tie ins
.
Atlantic Coast Conference
2023: [5]

NOTE: Selections made with schools, bowls, and conference office, no order of selection outside of NY6 bowls, then tier #1 bowls, then tier #2 bowls

Tier No. 1

Tier #2

for a minute there i thought Billy Bob's Bad Boy Bail Bonds was sponsoring a bowl.....
Most Accurate (w/Payout):

Tier No. 1

Tier #2

In case you missed it:
Auburn is Trash.png

Seems odd that some have us going to the Gator Bowl and some to the Gasparilla bowl given how far apart those two are in the selection process.
Actually if VT and Cuse do not win we will not even have enough teams to get to Tier 2... If both win this week then only 1 of the Tier 2 games will be needed

Do the 1st tier bowl tie-ins have to respect conference standings or simply W/L? I think we have a chance of finishing third in the conference after next week (currently 4th) assuming UNC can knock off NC State. If they don’t have to respect conference standings we’ll probably get screwed from the better ones.

I haven't been paying much attention to the selection process for the past 4 years. Historically, it was conference record that mostly influenced bowl selection, but now the bowl committees are given more of a choice. It was something like a team couldn't drop more than 2 spots, based on their standing. The tier system created a lot of flexibility for bowls to avoid hosting the same team consecutively or to choose a team that was geographically closer.

Saw someone at the game tonight wearing a Waffle House T-shirt. I wanted to go up to him, punch him in the face, and say “take that öööö off you motherööööing moron what the hell are you thinking, retard?” But I just couldn’t decide whether that was an appropriate way to speak to an 8 year old.
His mom would’a beat your ass.

Historically, bowls picked whoever they wanted. Then BC (I think) got royally screwed after losing the acccg. Then the acc made a rule about how low the acccg loser could fall and some selection requirement about no more than 2 games difference in conference standings. Of course, two games is 5-3 and 3-5, so pretty much the entire pool of bowl eligible teams.

We will get screwed. BC will get screwed. Charlotte will pick a team from the Carolinas if at all possible. Those are constants.

The ACC and its bowl partners make team selections based on several factors, including geographic proximity, avoiding repeat appearances and matchups, and regular-season won-loss records.

So conf record could mater but so could overall record.
