Bowls today

If Paul Finebaum was a regular guest on First Take, it would be perfect. I wouldn't watch it, but I would hear about it a lot.
Is Finebaum actually worth listening to? I've never given his radio show a shot since I assumed most of it was the brain-dead "any and all irony is the funniest thing ever" trash so adored by the sports-hipster morons who swarm over terrible, rotting EDSBS/SBNation jokes like maggots. I really can't stand those people, I've never seen so many people so desperate to be funny and for validation. And the Tech fan segment of those people are as bad or worse than the rest.

There was a digital billboard just down the road which showed a welcome message for Strong when they hired him. It was only in rotation for that first day and then it was gone.
In Atlanta or are you in Florida?

I quite enjoy the Finebaum show when I do happen to be in a place to watch it. I used to stream it pretty regularly. He's a master troll who's cover is the ultimate SEC homer, but rest assured he does nothing but poke people in the eyeballs with flaming sticks, and then invites them to call into his show. The majority of his troll victims are from SEC schools, but he does get a good Ohio State or Clemson fan in whenever he can. If you listen to it in that context, it makes a whole hell of a lot more sense than if you assume he's serious about anything he's saying.

Poking rednecks in the eyeball is one of the most enticing things I've ever heard. Is there any legitimate football talk going on though? I absolutely loved the Durham/Barnhart show during its far-too-brief run, but other than that I can't remember the last radio show I found where people were actually discussing football rather than shitposting into a microphone.

His sidekicks are occasionally informative, and there's some man-drama news updates, but actual football discussion is definitely not the point of the show.

Well, I'll probably end up looking up some segments or tuning in or whatever people do with radio shows today. Mainly just to hear a show where someone is roasting SEC morons rather than blatantly pandering to them.

I see the Clemson OSU game to be a dog fight. They're basically the same team on paper. Elite defenses, spread offenses with really good QBs and skill players. Both had last minute losses to decent teams. That's the best matchup of bowl season for sure - not just because it's a playoff game. Gut says Clemson, but I wouldn't put my money where my mouth is.

Best matchup unless Peterson keeps Bama within reach in the 4th that is...

Doeren is completely livid every time the camera cuts to him, but somehow his rage is boring and exhausting.

Some kind of strange cycle where he wants to be interesting and refreshing but his failure to do so triggers his boring exhausting rage. It certainly has nothing to do with this football game, of that I am certain.

Definitely not the game, it's got running, a few pass attempts, referees, football helmets, what looked like a girl in the stands - all the makings of an exhilarating bowl. But each time Doeren's temper flares, someone watching slips into a coma from which they will never return.

I have never heard a phrase, in my life, on the same plane of inanity as "that's the beauty of the zone scheme". Especially in the context of the Vanderbilt offense, whatever that might lend or take to or from it.

Who the hell are these guys? Each year, I wonder whether one of the sixth-string announcers ESPN has to pull from the abyss for bowl season will finally slip and say "öööö" on live television. It's going to happen eventually and when it does, it'll be from a dude like what we're listening to right now.
