A lot of people were sure Mac McWhorter would have picked up where O'Leary and Friedgen left off.Are all of you out of your goddamned minds? We are not hiring Key full time.

I actually feel sort of bad for Key
Well that's sort of my point too.. his ultimate goal is to be a HC one day and most likely wants to do it at his alma mater. Hell even if he wins 3-4 of the last 8 it's a vast improvement over what we've had, and he very well could end up being good HC material but the aftertaste of Geoff won't allow us to keep him unless he is wildly successful. The position coaches are nomads. Key has been paid handsomely for a really bad unit (yes, some good reasons for this in the first 2 years).
Given Key's coaching history away from Alabama, I'm not optimistic he makes much of a difference the rest of the season. He likely won't have trouble getting a job somewhere as that Alabama sparkles on a resume.
But if he were to win 5 or 6 games the rest of the way, he should strongly be considered for the job on a permanent basis.
I do not share any of the hope for Key's stint. Our Yellow Jackets are a hive who've been trying to fly with their wings taped together under the auspices of promoting unity. So we got rid of the dumbass queen whose idea this was, and replaced her with a moth who hangs around the nest sometimes.
Our problems will never be solved by one of our problems.
Of course we can still have moth sex, we are not reinventing the wheel hereBut we can still have moth sex, right?

Okay, I get what you are saying here. But there is a big, big difference between miraculously getting us to a bowl game, and winning in Athens this year. The former merely creates an additional dilemma/headache for Tech in its already difficult coaching search. The latter, you are talking about turning the world upside down and going in dry. Let's not pretend that those two hypothetical miracles are comparable. The only chance that Key ends up with the job permanently is if he gets us to being bowl eligible and manages to win in Athens. If he does that, I'm all for giving him the job.
