Yes, the miss changed the momentum of the game for sure. But, c'mon dude, we punted 13 f'ing times. That miss didn't cause us to lose.

You can be unworthy of a scholarship while not singlehandedly causing the team to lose.
 
I couldn’t care less if the thread disappears. I started it immediately following the missed chip shot that would have cut COFH to a one score game. The fact that UGA poured it on late matters not in the context of the point I made...which is that our kicker fails at his job, again and again. He also greatly impacted the outcome of the Citadel game iirc.

Somehow it’s an issue to call the scholarship kicker out for continued missed FGs and an inability to get touchbacks....but we can freely say the QB is not D1 caliber or whatever...

Delete the thread. The point was already made, and I stand by it.

It’s not just the missed field goals. The kickoffs suck too.

I have heard he will pushed to take more classes this spring and summer to graduate early.

This is on PJ for picking a bad kicker and not coaching him up. It’s also on Collins for not seeing what he had in camp and trying out every student on campus who played soccer in high school.

So PJ is to blame for not coaching up the kicker for the last year? Geez the stupidity on this board rivals... well, rivals some of our rivals sometimes

I don’t put this on PJ. Maybe the scholarship spot, but whatever. The bigger lesson is that kickers don’t get scholarships until they have 2 or 3 solid years of kicking behind them. It chaps my ass that we have 2 subpar kickers on scholarship right now while trying to roster build and scholarships are at a premium.

Can you even read? You skipped the first half of the sentence: "for picking a bad kicker." You also skipped the following sentence: "It's also on Collins..."

Call out threads against a kid are chicken-öööö. This is the fault of the coaching staff that recruited him and the staff that continues to play him.

Have to agree with this. If he makes that it's a one score game. If he can put a kickoff thru the endzone, the gaggers dont start the 2nd half at midfield. If we force a drive there and get a stop, who knows what might happen. They were not handling the pressure well, and only took control once they got some breathing room.

One of those kickers I believe showed up as a walk-on and went 9-9 on field goal attempts including 4-4 for 40+ yards. He earned his scholarship.

The real question should be what happened to our special teams, and specifically who is coaching our kickers.

CGC said his philosophy was defense and special teams. Who knows, maybe they worked on onsides kicks all week
