Bring Urban Meyer Here

Urban Meyer has a lot of baggage. Is he a hell of a coach, yes. Does he bring drama, that we don't want? Yes. I recall his term at UF and all the crap the athletes got into. Not sure we want that here.
Baggage you say? Every coach has some. Urban has a tractor trailer full of it. I would prefer someone who can fit their baggage in the overhead bin of an airliner.
I would love his coaching prowess.

You wouldn't take Urban Meyer if he wanted to coach here? You wouldn't take Art Briles?

Those are two proven exceptional A list coaches. However if it was me, I would hire Deion. Because Deion is the absolute highest risk highest reward candidate that we could go for and dammit we need to ööööing shoot for the moon here.
This is exactly how I feel about it. We just need to take Geff to the train station.

Yeah yeah because keeping CGC would be much better, or promoting key/long makes more sense. Bunch of morons.

Outside of Deon, I haven't seen a good suggestion.
Long is a moron! You sober?

Appeased would not be the word for me, more like appalled. Deon I could get enthusiastic.
Neon for sure...but if FSU tanks this year. He'll be in Garnet and Gold next season. I'd love to see Primetime on the Sideline in the Atl

Think about that for a moment. Then realize we shouldn't hire him.

True, but what if FSU turns the corner this year? I think Deion might see the writing on the wall and look for other options.

Not what I said. I actually think he's a good OC. He, however, has so HC experience. We just made that mistake.
at least his minimal experience consists of winning games. I'd trade Collins for Bill Lewis right now and we already lived thru that nightmare

One can hope that's for sure. Go get Bobby Petrino at least he wins before he does dumb öööö. No chance in Hell Urban would come here. Better odds winning powerball

Short list, but we need to tie up whoever we go after, before the rich schools start looking after Thanksgiving. But, I don’t trust our AD to do squat.

Wow. I have never seen such delusion on ST as there is in these coach threads. Meyer? Gruden? Deon? I cannot believe anyone really believes any of them would be interested in coming here. I would love to be wrong, but if I were advising any of them (without gold colored glasses), I am telling them not to take this job. If CGC goes, the next coach will need to be someone w/o the coaching name recognition or past head coaching gigs, essentially someone without alot of other options for HC jobs. Weinke and Long fit the bill. No one that would make the CFB media go "wow" would come here, I believe. With that said, I hope we shock the world this year and win more games than we expect and this doesn't become an actual problem.

Meyer and Gruden are jokes. Deon is unlikely but within the realm of possibility.

I don't think it's a guarantee that he could walk into a good job as there's still a lot of doubt about whether he can succeed at a higher level since he's only coached FCS.

And while GT is in a bad situation, the flip side is that expectations are very low. If he can take us to a bowl within the first two or three years that would probably be enough for another program to take a flyer on him.

Good point on low expectations. That could make a difference. I think it is important, though, to remember how constrained our AD was when we hired CGC and accept how constrained our AD (or maybe the next AD?) will be when making the next hire.

This is exactly how we ended up with CGC in the first place. GTFO

So how am I wrong? I genuinely want to know why you disagree, other than just "wanting" to hire a better coach. Am I wrong on how desirable GT is as a destination? Am I wrong on how much money we can throw at the hire? What am I missing?
