Bring Urban Meyer Here

Good point on low expectations. That could make a difference. I think it is important, though, to remember how constrained our AD was when we hired CGC and accept how constrained our AD (or maybe the next AD?) will be when making the next hire.
You will note that almost all the big names mentioned have either ties to GT (Meyer - granted thats "stretchy") or have "baggage" that make them a possibility if we are the school willing to overlook the baggage.

Ok, my turn: Pete Carrol. I’m sure he’s getting tired of the NFL and Seattle and he always wanted an ACC HC job and he’s already rich so would take a below market offer.

Pete's pretty underwhelming as a coach. How do you know the ACC job part?

This is exactly how we ended up with CGC in the first place. GTFO
No, CGC was based on us thinking an established D1 coach was preferable to an assistant learning how to HC on the job. We don't have the money to poach an established coach that doesn't suck, and CGC showed that. We either need a lower tier coach like Deion, or an assistant (Long/Weinke or from another program), or a fired coach that was fired for baggage not because he sucked.

Hahahaha established??

He took a decently setup 10 win temple team and led then to 7 and 8 wins.

Again by your last sentence, Meyer is the perfect fit.

Urban could ask his GT alum daughter to borrow her hat. Would save on clothing costs.

Is there some magic time requirement for established? Do I need to replace that with existed to not trigger you? Only one definition of established requires a long time. I can say "we established this award to recognize the queen after her death." Or can I not say that until after 50 years or so?

Are you saying CGC was an established head coach?

This thread is great. It has inspired me. Urban was good and all, but if we're going to reach for the stars, why not just dig up Bear Bryant, Paul Brown, or Vince Lombardi and offer them the job. Better coaches than Urban and exact same chance of them coaching our team.

Could hire Corey Dennis and possibly get Meyer as OC or some form of assistant head coach for a year or two get help him get the program off the ground. A big risk… but not a 0% probability scenario.

Corey Dennis would be a good hire with or without his FIL coming along. I would like to think we could get him. But I'm not sure.
