I've never understood why people spend so much time and money going to football games to be miserable and make everybody around them miserable? It's mostly people that make me miserable, and so when I'm miserable I want to be alone away from people. Not football assholes. They're miserable, they come to the game miserable, they're miserable when we don't score quick enough, they're miserable when we score too quickly. I can only assume it's a form of display. i.e., I may not be good at anything else, but I will kick your butt when it comes to being the most miserable. I'm not saying you can't be PO'ed at the way we play, or how the game turned out. But why do you have to make everyone else share your pain. Wait till you get home and tell your dog all about it, not me and my wife sitting near you.

I wonder how much of it is just ingrained engineering training, both from The Shaft in school and later reinforced by Eric Berne "Ain't It Awful" games in the workplace.

I'm not a fan of any other teams, so I have nothing to reference. Do other fan bases talk so much öööö about their own team, players, and coaches that they dig themselves into a hole where they feel the need to gloat about a loss?

Yes. Take a look around any fan board. There's nothing new here. Some fans bitch, some fans bend over backwards to defend the coaches, some fans say "Meh, whatever", and some fans are proud of Moral Victories.

IIWII.
