Byerly would have made a difference

Some of JT's errant passes and passes out of bounds would have probably been sacks with Byerly so you have to figure that in somehow. No QB is going to be that effective the way our OL was blocking. JT's speed helped things somewhat, take that speed away and I'm not sure Byerly has time to find a receiver.

Exactly. This keeps getting repeated but apparently not enough. Joe Hamilton would have been largely ineffective with protection this bad. I shudder to think what would have happened to George Godsey in the same situation.

Watch the JT5 highlights from the Tulane game and compare them to any game from the last month. It is exceedingly obvious that he has been playing hurt this whole season. The Rivals GT mod said he has a bum ankle and will probably need surgery on his left shoulder.

My theory is that JT5 has been injured all season, which was the reason for the preseason non-contact jersey. I wouldn't be surprised to hear about JT5 undergoing shoulder surgery shortly.

If that's true, JT5 wold have been less likely to play hurt with Byerly available.

Is this theory at this point? I thought it was common knowledge. He got hurt during the ND game. He may or may not undergo surgery, I don't know, but he's been playing more hurt in the shoulders than Nesbitt and his ankles.

I rather hope Thomas gets the injury business sorted and has a better senior year than Nesbitt did.

I totally agree, the few times that JT has just a little time yesterday his throws were not bad.

No. They were terrible regardless of time to throw or not. He had all day to throw on the INT in the red zone, short hopped a pass to a wide open LG, and overthrew MM by a mile. Add in the terrible smoke route to BS and the pop pass way behind RJ.

He must be hurt because he has been off almost all year and his mechanics have looked like crap.

A healthy byerly definitely would have outplayed Thomas vs UGA. He was god awful

Agreed. JT has played like crap 2 years in a row vs the dogs. Glad we won last year in epic fashion but honestly, he looked like crap against them twice now.
