Calculus

What is calculus to you

  • A central and unassailable tenant of GT’s academic prestige

  • A religious sacrament to the Hillnerds that is a huge ‘recruit against’ tool

Can you show me where I’ll need pussy calculus in my NFL career, coach?
We could just plop the pussy calculus textbook on the coffee table...

We should have enough academic support and tutoring in place that it would take more effort to fail than it does to pass. Then we need to sell that as a positive attribute of the program.

Management calculus is easy, but it’s not SEC level easy. It still requires paying attention and doing the work.
So exactly the kind of kids that will flunk out anyway regardless of whether they have to take a pussified calculus or not.

I could probably teach my toddler enough calculus to pass that class.

Clemson played a school with starting QB that was actually taking classes at Clemson but still considered enrolled at the other school because of transfer program. Can GT also use this exception to bury athletes at a lower school with easier entrance requirements for the first 3 years?

not having majors that interest athletes is a much bigger deal than a single, not all that difficult math class.

I don't think the kids care. They are going to major universities that a lot of them would not otherwise be qualified to attend. Therefore, they are already profiting; many don't care if it's a GT degree vs an Auburn degree. It's better than UAB or wherever they would have qualified. They aren't making the decision on one class... With the degree being negligible (I know you don't want to hear that), the other schools simply prepare them better for the NFL, which even for the most academically oriented, is still a goal.

Management majors take pussy calculus anyway. This is and has always been a cop out.

You gotta click quite a few players' bios before you find a single "X Engineering" major. Most are taking "Business Administration". Some are "Literature, Media, and Communication" majors.

As an Engineering degree holder, I have zero problems with it and wish 'em luck on getting thru Ma Tech and in winning football games.

How far should we lower our standards? uga admitted a student[sic]/athlete with a third grade reading level. Should Georgia Tech admit illiterates to be more competitive in football?

Pussy calculus is rocket science to kids growing up in the Georgia public school system.

I grew up in the SC public school system and had plenty of real-world experience in Bottle-Rocket Science. Strangely, it didn't get me any college credits.

They're taking business calc or equivalent at GPC over the summer.

I think the bigger question is how much athletes will diverge from the rest of the student body as admissions standards continue to rise.

Ok. Let me know when you're gonna stop playing dumb.
:dunno:
I went to a public school in Georgia. That’s what you claimed would educate me so little as to make pussy calculus seem like rocket science.
