John Frank is another one - was SF's TE for 5 years in the glory years, quit to become a doctor when they were still good.

Maybe there is more to Calvin than his public persona and he has something else he'd rather do. He doesn't own anybody anything except maybe part of his signing bonus back to the Lions.

Based on what?

TV wants personalities. Is CJ a 'personality?'

He'll do something in his next phase of life and he'll be successful, I just can't imagine it is as a TV guy.
 
He could be our sideline guy and when they go to him on the sideline he could just say "I would have caught that"
 
the RB from UVa with the Giants Tiki Barber, he's done pretty well outside of the NFL
 
Somehow I don't think Calvin would want to do TV anyway. I feel like former players do TV either because they have nothing better to do or because they love the game so much and want to stay around it.

I really don't think the former is true for Calvin, and if the latter was true I don't think he'd be walking away from playing while still on the tail end of his prime.

None of us are surprised. I thought he would immediately retire when he found out Corky was going to be chucking the ball to him

I like Reggie Ball, but when I used to sit in the lower NE corner of the stadium, before I moved up to those sweet UN seats, there were a few times I was apparently the intended receiver on a few plays.
 
So what's next? Mediocre golfing? Mediocre travel? Finishing his mediocre degree?
 
We have to find a way to get him employed at the GTAA.
