Onyx is a black mineral?Love the onyx gray
This is how you build a brand? Different looks during the season just leads to poor recognition in my mind. I like gold pants, white jersey, gold helmets. Just my preference . I think changing unis leads to some loss of where the players & coaches should be focusing. I am old school. Stay off my lawn !
Just an opinion. I am no fashion expert. I believe this will be the worst looking Tech uniform in my lifetime.
You sir, are very mistaken.Just an opinion. I am no fashion expert. I believe this will be the worst looking Tech uniform in my lifetime.
Thank you! I got blasted last week for saying the same thing. This is how you build a brand? Different looks during the season just leads to poor recognition in my mind. Some group rates jersey and Tech has been in the top 10 at least twice and these jerseys have been discussed all over and will make an impact on TV and social media. That is how you build a brand in the modern world. FWIW.
Tech fans seem to think we have a great brand but for football we don't. Bama, OSU, UGA, etc have great brands. They are established and people know who they are. Tech doesn't in college football no matter how much we wish we did. Our most recognizable brand was Johnson's option and that is what everyone knew about us. We want to make it something different and something that recruits, players and fans care about. Once we fill up the stadium regularly and recruit in the top 25 regularly then we can discuss being consistent and recognizable.

And you should be blasted this week as well.Thank you! I got blasted last week for saying the same thing.
So wearing white is our brand? Do you really think any recruits care about that? Do you really think anyone outside of Tech knows it even care about the history you just spouted off?So once we're good we can change the brand to being consistent? That will be another brand change. It's hard to establish a brand when it changes each week (except for Oregon, they're brand is never wearing the same thing twice). I do think we need to focus more on playing better than how we look. Recruits will see that more than the uniform. Heck, Bama recruits don't give a flip about uniforms. I personally do not want Tech to become Oregon.
You say Tech doesn't have a brand but Tech does, or did at least. Tech is one of the only teams to wear white at home. LSU wears white because of Tech. During the Dodd years Tech wore white for home and away. LSU didn't want Tech to wear white when they played them in Baton Rouge so they started wearing white and it stuck. In the early 80s the NCAA made it a rule that home teams had to wear a color jersey for home games. Hence the black and navy uniforms of the the 80s and early 90s. Thanks to a petition from LSU, the NCAA dropped the color rule in 1994; the year Tech went back to wearing white at home. Tech has always had a pretty consistent uniform design when it comes to colors and stripes, with some exceptions. That all ended when Johnson came and Russell decided to get cute.
