To me it’s all about doing the best you can to ensure the best team in the country. The first playoffs already achieved this goal by preventing a Bama-FSU game. Going from top 2 to top 4 makes it far more likely you’re giving the best team in the nation a chance to win it all.

But in a year like this, I think it makes the obvious case for an 8 team playoff, divide it however you want. #9 is going to bitch every year, but I think we can agree that the best tram in the country is certainly going to be in the top 8 every year. Top 4 most years... but maybe not.

We won the league with 2 losses in 2009, and would have won it with 2 losses in 2014 if the Dwags hadn't hurt Smelter. We could totally get into an 8 team playoff if things fell into place for us.

We only had one ACC loss in 2009 (Miami).
