CGC post game presser

Not once have I indicated happiness nor contentment with CGC. However, he's the HC now and for at least another year so I'm waiting til then to pass final criticism. Certainly, there's much to raise eyebrows about at the moment. If you're remotely suggesting anything political, you clearly haven't read my posts in that forum, to put it mildly.

But I don't want to return to 42 pass attempts in an entire season of football, annual 6-7 win ceilings, and people calling 30 QB keepers every game "offensive genius" even as we got annually ass-raped by the likes of Duke and had long been passed-over by the mutts and Clemson.

You and the rest of the PJ Fan Club need to accept that PJ knew he was leaving a bare cupboard behind so he quit on us. You Settling Sallies & Masters of Mediocrity can take your Motor City Bowl losses and shove 'em where the sun don't shine.

Let him go.
I thought CPJ was awesome, but yes, it was time for him to retire. I don't see how you see the need to wait another year thought to fully evaluate Collins. I haven't seen anything yet to indicate that he has a clue how to coach or manage a coaching staff. P'Nut should have gone after last season, and I know many fans who said the same. Unfortunately, Collins doesn't seem able to admit mistakes, especially in press conferences, when he won't even make eye contact with the press and ignores, even to the point of smirking at, questions about the fans. With the RBs we have now, I would gladly focus predominantly on the running game, but only if P'Nut would call plays that make any sense at the time he calls them.

I’m specifically arguing against the “Everyone who saw it a lot could beat it.” Apparently not in 2018. We were 1 win from playing in the ACC CG. Not irrelevant. We were 2 years removed from beating UGA and Kentucky in a bowl game. Why do you lie about what we were? Does it make you feel better about where we are now?

And attendance declined for the 3rd straight year and recruiting got worse as a result.

None of this excuses weekly bad coaching from CGC and his mostly-inept staff. But to want to continue down the road to irrelevance and gimmickry was asinine. PJ's time here was done. He quit and moved on.

So should you.

See, I don't really disagree with any of that. I've been fairly vocal about my disappointment and confusion on the apparently-overrated Brent Key. But since we can't afford to fire CGC and replace him now, wait-another-year is the realistic approach to take, because it IS the approach that we will take. Like everyone, I hope to see some coordinator changes in December too but who knows?

We're making fewer penalties and our FG kicking has improved. Sims seems a bit better too and we've got great RBs. Outside of that...I don't see much improvement from last year and - worse - I don't see any improvement on the other side of the ball at all, not even from game to game. Personally, I'd like to see both OC and DC replaced but, like PJ's OL coach who we all bitched about for a decade and who was never replaced, I don't think these 2 will be either.

There is no data supporting we were headed down a road to irrelevance. Your position is asinine. It is based entirely on losing to teams that lost a total of ~5 games over a 3 year period.

He gets "trashed" because all that was done at the expense of leaving everything in disarray on the way out the Door!
You’ve been trashing Paul in the AJC comment sections and on every Tech board under multiple aliases since the day he was hired! Don’t act like you give him öööö because of an empty cupboard after 11 years here; you’ve had a hard-on for him for more than a decade

Sadly, I agree, and if that happens, I hope the fan base erupts in disapproval

It’s incredible how wrong the perception of CPJ’s leaving is on this board. He didn’t ‘retire’, nor was he ‘fired’. He lobbied for years to get the resources to give us the team that could compete. Every AD pointed to the CPH contract as the limiting factor, but they all put up with his BS as far as bowing to him as the FB HC, mainly because they couldn’t afford to replace him. Todd came in, heard the same thing, but didn’t want to put up with him. He bought him out and then realized he had no replacement options. He bought CGC’s Waffle House BS, because no one else would talk to him and he eats that hype up himself. Todd is all in. We’re stuck with Money Down until CGC proves him right. We don’t have to like it, but we better get used to it. He won’t even be gone with two more 3-win seasons. Enjoy the ride.

If that happens, then there won't be any money left to hire a new coach, whether the current contract is allowed to play out or not. At my age, I figure I don't have many years left of being able to come anyway, so it won't matter to me if I have to quit a couple of year early.

We were a national gimmick and a laughingstock. Our claim to fame was that we played service academy ball. We had a converted RB running 30 QB keepers a game in front of dwindling attendance & you PJ lovers called it offensive genius. We were never going to beat the mutts again. You PJ revisionists are hilarious.

Are you on that Medication I see advertised in TV commercials where it says that a side effect is that is might cause you to see things that aren't there?

Dude you sound friggin' delusional!

How about Occam's Razor?

CPJ saw that he recruited himself into a corner and had a depleted Roster, the NCAA was changing the rules making his already fragile & gimmicky offense even more fragile, he couldn't just turn on a dime and start throwing 40 times per Game, no matter how many times he BS'd GT Fans with the "well back in the Hawaii days...."

He saw the handwriting on the wall, he saw how Recruiting was trending, he saw how Dook was putting their boot in his azz and he walked away and quit.

He created a friggin' mess, he knew he couldn't Recruit his way out of it, he finally figured out that Urban & Saban were right slick playcalls means nothing on the P5 Level Recruiting really is 80% of what makes you successful on the P5 Level.

CPJ realized that he was wrong all along, AND HE QUIT!

Occam's Razor!
