CGC post game presser

Not mattering to the rest of the college football world is primarily due to being seen as a cute little throwback service-academy gimmick for the decade before CGC got here.

It's not a new development.
We won games, ACC Championships, bowl games, and were noticed nationally. You can call it a "throwback" all you want, but it worked.

Yes, it worked, for a moment in time. Once schools who saw it more than once and figured out how to prepare for it, it no longer worked.

This combined with having to recruit against all of the negative recruiting by our competition put this into the time to move on category

Other schools had better talent to beat us with, especially since the big money boys would never give CPJ enough money to hire a REAL DC, or a REAL recruiting staff. Very few of them "figured it out."

and yet, we were never taken seriously and, as you yourself pointed out, don't even make the satire pages.

We won a single ACC Championship. Singular. We were noticed 2, maybe 3x. Unfortunately, all the air of 2009 and 2014 was sucked out by 2010 and 2015, respectively. Those were 2 great seasons that PJ was completely unable to take advantage of re: Recruiting.

After the greatness of JT, the best PJ was able to get to QB his system was Taquon Marshall. Discussion over.

He also got Tobias Oliver, whom he never got to use, and whom Collins has completely underused.
I said we never make the satire pages NOW. We got plenty of notice under CPJ for better or worse.

Bobby Dodd retired in 1966. In the 55 years since, Tech has won 10+ games four times and Paul Johnson is responsible for two of those seasons.

I just don't see why y'all trash the man so much when no one has had much success at Tech. I guess O'Leary can be trumpeted for his success, but if we have to exclude Johnson's seasons without Justin Thomas, then we should probably exclude O'Leary's seasons without Joe Hamilton, right?

We only got 'plenty of notice' under PJ early on and again in 2014. 2016, we won 9 games and weren't even ranked in the top 25. I'd agree with you that those pollsters can go straight to hell but regardless: Perception is reality and perception was that we were a nice gimmick offense.

This is what HS recruits saw too.

PJ chose not to use Oliver, going with Taquon instead in 2018. He blew off Graham too, who had a far better arm than converted-RB and mutt fan TQM.

So which grandson set up your StingTalk account. No way you’re young enough to know how to use a computer when you’re screaming “tradition, turn off the rap music, lose the 404 BS.” You’ve got 80 year old written all over your posts. Newsflash old timer, we aren’t recruiting old men to play football.
unless they are cover corners with game

NEWSFLASH to YOU, kiddo.....We aren't currently coaching those young men to win, and it's definitely not their fault.

You obviously have CPJ derangement syndrome and can't see that his successor is far worse than CPJ ever was. Reminds me a lot of another derangement syndrome prevalent in this country

Super Size did you get you Alexander-Tharpe Fund in the mail today ? If you did read the ATHLETIC DIRECTORS INITATVE
( as the 2021 -22 year takes shape, it remains important that Georgia Tech Athletics has the ability to be nimble and react quickly to an ever changing landscape . this can be used at the discretion of the Director of Athletics to address unexpected critical needs as they arise.

unexpected critical needs - wow you mean like a new coach?
this AD leaves no stone unturned

He gets "trashed" because all that was done at the expense of leaving everything in disarray on the way out the Door!

He was supposed to do all those things AND Recruit well and maintain relationships with HS HCs in the State of GA.

CPJ had a career win pctg. of .580 and Chan .579, given the condition that Chan left GT FB in vs the way CPJ left GT FB -- I'll take a Chan vs a CPJ any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Those highs you mentioned for CPJ were never noticed by Sidewalk Alums (more Tix sold) , the In State Media, nor HS Recruits.

Although Chan had lower Highs, when we were beating Auburn, ND, Miami when they were really loaded, the entire State paid attention to GT FB, the Local Media, HS Coaches, Recruits, even though Chan's highs were lower than CPJ's -- GT FB & the GTAA got way more bang for the buck as far as positive attention in the State of GA.

You might not like it, but that .001 higher win pctg from CPJ might be the most expensive thing in P5 Sports over the last 30 years, because we are now paying a damn steep price for that extra .001 in win pctg.

Honestly speaking, considering what we really gained from that .001, it was not worth it!

We were 4-2 against our division in 2018.

Not once have I indicated happiness nor contentment with CGC. However, he's the HC now and for at least another year so I'm waiting til then to pass final criticism. Certainly, there's much to raise eyebrows about at the moment. If you're remotely suggesting anything political, you clearly haven't read my posts in that forum, to put it mildly.

But I don't want to return to 42 pass attempts in an entire season of football, annual 6-7 win ceilings, and people calling 30 QB keepers every game "offensive genius" even as we got annually ass-raped by the likes of Duke and had long been passed-over by the mutts and Clemson.

You and the rest of the PJ Fan Club need to accept that PJ knew he was leaving a bare cupboard behind so he quit on us. You Settling Sallies & Masters of Mediocrity can take your Motor City Bowl losses and shove 'em where the sun don't shine.

Let him go.

I got it, but I haven't opened it yet, Sounds like the usually excuse-making BS to me, from what you quoted.

and got ass-raped in our bowl game and by Duke, Clemson and the mutts. We'd become completely irrelevant under PJ and a bit of a laughingstock gimmick.
I’m specifically arguing against the “Everyone who saw it a lot could beat it.” Apparently not in 2018. We were 1 win from playing in the ACC CG. Not irrelevant. We were 2 years removed from beating UGA and Kentucky in a bowl game. Why do you lie about what we were? Does it make you feel better about where we are now?
