Charter Spectrum drops ESPN and all Disney

Fair compensation would be the cost of watching games some other way, plus some compensation for the inconvenience. If you can't use Charter you have to use something else. Beyond the free trials, Sling is probably the cheapest at $20 for the first month, plus taxes. So I'd say $30 is fair if you have high speed internet. Not $15.

I have circumvented the Spectrum issue by starting a 21-day trial with YouTube TV. This should likely be long enough for them to get resolution on the negotiations.

My buddy, GT alum, told me about this last night. He canceled spectrum (after being on hold for over 45m) and signed up for Hulu.

I have Spectrum internet and I stream the TV service. Currently out of town, but they now have 5 days to resolve or I'll drop TV and add something else to replace it. There's always an alternative, but this stunt to begin the college football season just cost Disney Corp and Spectrum a lot of money.

I was at our game and then at Auburn on Saturday, so I did not mind the blackout. Thursday night there were other options. But, not seeing FSU-LSU last night and Clemson-Duke tonight is bad. Not getting ABC is worse. However, I can live without it. I am not paying to livestream the ESPN content. No Jeopardy and no Clemson beat down of Duke is bad tonight. However, I did enjoy the Argos whipping Hamilton this afternoon and will make do watching Edmonton and Calgary tonight. Disney and Spectrum, get your act together. You actually need one another. I love the simplicity of one cable provider and can afford to enjoy the options it can provide. However, keep messing around and treating customers poorly and I can live without cable and certainly without streaming.

It required a 57 minute phone call but I was able to disconnect my TV service from Spectrum. I am keeping the internet as I have been happy overall with their connectivity. It also helps that I have the new subscriber promotional pricing.

Anyway, other than the long wait on hold it was a painless exchange. The CSR was very understanding. He was claiming that it may take until October to get resolution and he is hopeful that I return to using their TV service.

In the meantime, I will enjoy the remainder of my free YouTube TV trial and 3-month promotional pricing. This will tide me through the end of CFB.

Interesting read:
On the bright side,if it's as bad for cable as he says some of the channels nobody wants but are forced to pay for in cable bundles will cease to exist or have to market themselves to the few who are actually interested.

The last time I paid for TV was... checks notes.. that year the Cardinals lost the Super Bowl..

Bye bye We, Own, Lifetime, and Hallmark.

Maybe, but that single, used-up, wall-smashed, cat-lady demo is only growing...
Despite focusing on their careers until they're barren Karens, they are living paycheck to paycheck* and can't afford it.

*They make enough money, they just don't have a logical masculine presence in their life that is able to get them to spend responsibly and have accountability over their finances.
