Chip Kelly is gone

Hmmmmmm...I would fire PJ and hire him this minute if the opportunity existed. He could be a game changer for GT. Totally worth the risk.

I love CPJ but I have to agree. Kelly took an Oregon program that had been lifted into respectability by his predecessor and placed it in the first rank of college programs. In my opinion he can have Saban-like impact if he'll just stay at a school for while. Would have loved to see him at So Car but as they say timing is everything.

That's the solution! All we need is Chip Kelly and a $230 million donation from an alumnus. I am going to write M Bob!

Oregon is different. Lax drug policies, lax academics, unlimited money, and fairly easy schedule at the time of Kelly's rise. Not saying he was not a great coach.

Come to Nashville. Reunite with Mariota. Fulfill your destiny.

That's what I think is going to happen. The difference being that I don't think they'll turn over complete player personnel control to him the way Philly did.

According to ESPN, the Philly owner had a meeting with him and suggested taking back part of player personnel to another person and Chip balked. So the owner just went ahead and fired him.

Given Mariota as his QB (who already knows his system), you might actually see their offense have some success. The problem is that defenses win most of the games in the pros and Tennessee's is pretty bad (like the Falcons').

1) hire Chip Kelly
2) get $230 million
3) rack up Natty Championships like we are Oregon.

Chip is a good coach, not a great NFL GM

Meh....running at breakneck speed in the NFL. A few 3 and outs. Get your defense back on the field immediately without rest. Get the öööö kicked out of you. Terrible coaching.

High speed running of the offense may work in college where he had clearly superior athletes to his opponent. Level the talent field at the NFL and the flaws shine. Defenses salivated knowing how he ran his scheme. Those guys are pros. Their job is football. He needs to go back to Oregon and start playing the Portland States of the world again so he can look like a guru.

The offense was pretty effective the past two years. This year he traded players that fit the system (McCoy, D Jackson, J Maclin) for misfits (Murray, lack of big play WR) all while neglecting the interior of the offensive line. The system broke down without players.

I still think the offense can work, but Kelly needs to stick to coaching and far away from the GM duties.

Scoring offense / YPG
2012: 29 / 15 (Pre-Kelly)
2013: 4 / 2
2014: 3 /5
2015: 16 / 15

öööö, I did not know Chip was up there with Saban, Lombardi and Heisman. My bad. I will go worship at his alter and ask for forgiveness.

Go Jackets!

I came here to post this, as I have many times before.

Stupidest personnel decision in the history of the NFL. Well, maybe second to trading Brett Favre.

1st Place: Selecting Jamarcus Russell over Calvin Johnson

The Falcon offense sucks too though. Other than Julio, there's no talent there. Matt Ice sucks.

Chip Kelly was a shitty GM and a bad NFL coach. He had locker room issues and his dumb scheme didn't work well in the NFL, where he's not playing patsy talent.

The guy can try to run that crap in TN but he'll only get Mariotta killed and miss the playoffs, same as he did in PHI.

The NFC East was dismal this year yet Chip's Eagles missed the playoffs and were dismal on both sides of the ball.

Looks like the offense worked pretty darn well to me.

He went 10-6 twice and had an overall winning record. That is pretty good.

Jeffry Luria screwed him over by dragging it out until all the college vacancies were filled.
