Chris Hatcher on 790 @ 8:25

Hatch is saying that he was not seriously considered for our job. Not his words but that's what they amounted to.

He spoke to Rad for about 30-40 minutes and that was it.

Allrighty then.

All he said was that he thought he was never a serious candidate... he never said - and they never asked - if he was actually interested in the job or not.

It was pretty much what we expected - a recruiting pitch for GSU. However, he never gave the impression that he wouldn't be interested if GT asked... never said "I will be the coach at GSU next year" or anything like that. He definitely didn't paint himself into a corner and left everything open.

Having said all that, I believe him and don't get the feeling GT is interested even if PJ falls through. Why? I have no idea whatsoever - I don't get it.

Listen to his interview and compare his sales and interpersonal skills to those of JT in his interview. In my opinion no comparison. I still believe he is best option we have all thing considered and that includes for the money.

From everything i've heard / read, we talked to him and we haven't called him back.

That's not exactly a no is it?

Maybe a backup if PJ doesn't happen?

If our only other "serious" candidats are Paul Johnson who's ass we are currently brown nosing and Terry Bowden (?) then I don't get it either. The experience argument holds no water if we seriously considered WM IMO.

2 Candidates would creat the "buzz" Rad talked about...WM and CH

Oh, he's definitely a smooth talker. Embraces the media and knows exactly what he needs to say in every situation. He's a winner folks, whether GT recognizes that or not.

Yeah, he definitely left things open for us if we decided to go after him. I don't get it, either, that we don't seem to be interested. Just listening to an interview like that you can tell that this guy just gets it. I think our fan base would be really excited if we hired him.

He's exactly what we need to sell this program. Not some guy like PJ that gets in heated exchanges w/ reporters and says he doesn't care what the fans think.

This brief radio interview reinforced what I've been thinking all along...hire him now, or we'll regret it later. I was ok with PJ, but it's time either for him to decide or for Rad to pull the plug. Either PJ wants to be at GT, or he doesn't. I know I don't want someone who has to talk himself into being here.

Exactly - big "IT" factor.

I just think he would be great and I'm mystified as to why he's evidently not our guy.

Notice how he mentioned leading the nation in passing at VS and rushing at GS. He knows what people are saying about PJ and doesn't want to be labeled.

I listened to Hatcher as well. For folks that know football in the state of Georgia, we all like Paul Johnson and Chris Hatcher. As a UGA fan, it's been weird to hear 3 names I really like as possible HCs for GT. Muschamp, Johnson, and Hatcher. Especially Paul Johnson and Chris Hatcher.

Considering how long I've pulled for Johnson and Hatcher and the folks I know who are friends with those guys or coach with those guys, I would have a hard time not wanting to see them have success. Matter of fact, it's nearly impossible.

If yall hire Johnson or Hatcher, I would do something I have never done before and that's really, truly want to see GT win every game, but 1 every season. I can tell you that all of my tailgatin' buddies have similar feelings.

I know some of you don't want any, but hiring one of those 2 guys will pickup some "side walk" fans in South Georgia. Lots of Georgia Southern folks kinda pull for UGA because of the Erk Russell connection, but Paul Johnson would shift those preferences. I guess I'm stating the obvious.
It would be much easier on us if yall would hire GOL or a Rick Neuheisel-type.

GaJake15 you are not the first UGA fan that I have heard say this especially about Hatcher and to me that does what Rad want to do and that is bring in a different fan base that we have yet to tap into.

He also included PJ, i prefer PJ but, either one would be GREAT.

I was very impressed with Chris' interview. I'd imagine he would come for @700k. High energy, media savy and obvious passion for coaching- - why not roll the bones on a young guy like this ? If it didn't work out, his entire buyout(3-4 years worth) would be approx. what PJ would make in one year. If Pj blows up, the AA will be broke and we'll be selling BDS to Ga. State.

It was a call in. And after hearing it I definitely want this guy. I don't understand how he isn't a top candidate.

I think I'm gonna write Dan another email about Hatcher. If we don't get Johnson, we've got to give Hatcher a look.

If you guys really want him

and feel strongly about it, the only thing that will make a difference is emailing DRad and Clough. Write an email and explain why he should be the coach. Tell them what the Ugag fan just said and that we would pick up so many more southern GA fans.

Email dradakovich@at.gtaa.gatech.edu now.

I'm not sure of President Clough's email, but if you call the GTAA at 404-894-5400, they would probably tell you.
