Clemson coaches salaries going up

You keep saying "accidentally" in quotes and italics, but Dabo never said that, did he?

Unless I'm missing something, all that this article says is a reporter asked if it's possible that the players were exposed to it by the school, and Dabo said they're looking into every possibility, including that.

Nothing has changed since the positive tests first came out, as far as I can tell.
I'm sorry, I was mistaken. He didn't say "accidentally" he said they may have "mistakenly" given it to them. That makes it better.
ööööing ass clown. Check the öööö you are pumping into your players beforehand, clown. You get paid millions per year. Clemson has a budget that could field an army. You put in a wiffle ball field, for christsakes. You should have a reliable, clean, supply of supplements - not be buying them in baggies from Raul on the corner

He didn't say "mistakenly" either. All that happened was a reporter asked if the players could have been exposed to it by the school, add he said they're looking into every possibility, including that.

The headline writer took that answer and turned it into "Dabo says Clemson may have mistakenly given players PEDs", presumably because that gets a lot more shares than, "Dabo says Clemson looking into all possibilities regarding positive tests".

Yea, covering ass. They took PED's, didn't clean themselves up properly before testing, got caught. There. I solved the great mystery! It wasn't shampoo, hand creme, or some great plot to spike players supplements by USuCk. They cheated. They got caught. Dabo is offering cover. Dabo is an ass clown.

Interesting career dilemma (sp?) for the assistants. When there was talk of Elliott as a candidate here, I didn't think he had enough experience outside of Clemson to be a viable candidate. Still feel that way. However, any move that one makes laterally from Clemson will result in a pay cut most likely. In some cases, even a promotion may not increase the income. So, one most likely won't leave unless being a HC is a definite goal and taking a pay cut is secondary to that goal.

Say you want Elliot. HC will be a promotion and a pay raise. He can bring in Clemson assistants and make them coordinators or assistant HC to get them pay raises. Steal the best grad assistants and off-field guys to be position coaches. But yeah, Clemson isnt going to lose any assistants to lateral transfers like UGA lost their OC.

GT is paying CGC $3 million this year. Venables will get $11 million over 5 years but they are reworking his contract to get more. Making it very tough for him to leave. The rest of the assistants are overpaid IMO as no one else is even interviewing them for jobs but it makes for one big, happy, family which is smart on Dabo's part. Will just be a little odd to perhaps win 3 NCs in 4 years and not even have assistants interview for head coaching jobs.

There are lots of people that were very good at what they do day in and day out, but turn out to be terrible administrators. It is quite possible that these guys realize that they've got a really good gig right now and are willing to ride that gravy train out. A HCing job ain't always what it's cut out to be, so one has to be very careful when weighing whether to leave or not. The grass ain't always greener on the other side.

Just playing devil’s advocate, but if the NCAA cannot set a cap on coaching salaries, then how can they not allow players to take money for their services. I’d say put a $0.5M limit on coaches salaries and if the coaches did not like it they could go coach in one in the many professional leagues.

Well the players are getting modest stipends now, right? And that's a matter of amateurism (publicly, at least), which obviously isn't a dilemma when it comes to the coaches. There's no pretense that coaches are working on a volunteer/educational basis. If the NCAA really wanted to cap coaching salaries (and at the sort of figure you're suggesting) they could try, but it would be at their own peril. The football factories do not need the NCAA to build their programs and generate revenue.

I'm struggling to figure out why the NCAA would even feel compelled to artificially limit coaching salaries. Would that also entail limiting athletic budgets? Because otherwise the money going to coaches would just be redirected to additional water slides.

For sure. Having the self-awareness to know you are a #2 or #3 guy can bring a lot of wealth and happiness professionally. Key actually strikes me as the perfect #2 guy to CGC. I hope we pay him $2 million a year after a couple ACCC.

But Elliott was really hoping for a GT interview/job offer and he never got a call. Hope those guys realize just because they are being paid very well, it is because of Dabo and Venables. If they want to be head coaches they might actually have to take a pay cut to go to a Sun Belt school or even FCS.

NCAA should put a salary cap on football coaches. Players get next to nothing and coaches get rich.

Bet almost every coach was once a player, so players can shoot for that. Or maybe we can have a socialist utopia where all coaches are paid the same, every team wins & loses the same number of games. And the 4 CFP teams are rotated every year so every team gets a shot.

And every professor and administrator should be paid the same with a government approved cap.

No cap.

Man, I love the idea of rotating the 4 CFP teams every year. If we limit it to P5 teams, we are there every 14 years. I am so tired of the same teams being there every year.

Dabo made more in the first 3 months of 2018 than I made in 46 years. And I was undefeated. Where's the justice?

This describes Venables perfectly, and I think he knows it. He's an excellent DC and a crazy SOB and has the perfect job right now.

Elliott, on the other hand, won't be at Clemson long. He has HC aspirations and will get a chance soon. Initially I was disappointed that we didn't pursue him, but it's clear that we made the right decision.

I was never sold on Elliott. Plus, Tech hasn't hired an assistant since Dodd.

Collins was the best hire.
