Talent planning is important. Good orgs know how to plan salaries/promotion paths so that talent wants to stay within the organization, structuring comp/perks/responsibilities/development in a way where a competitor has to give a dumb offer to compete with you. It's not about keeping coaches around forever (except maybe the head coach), it's about maintaining performance while normal coaching changes occur.
