Clemson coaches salaries going up

Talent planning is important. Good orgs know how to plan salaries/promotion paths so that talent wants to stay within the organization, structuring comp/perks/responsibilities/development in a way where a competitor has to give a dumb offer to compete with you. It's not about keeping coaches around forever (except maybe the head coach), it's about maintaining performance while normal coaching changes occur.
 
I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but DRad knows how to spend money, he's in the right place. I'm guessing in a few years we are going to be much better off financially and will be needing to take care of folks. Attendance goes up and then section rentals, ticket prices go up, other revenue then goes up, ACC revenue goes up, and yes maybe even some stadium expansion, who knows. First things first, recruit, recruit, recruit. Then win, win, win. It's called free market and free market capitalism for all you young people that have been indoctrinated on socialism which does not work.
Before someone says, "but this is Gov't, it's GT", actually the GTAA is a separate entity from the school and stands financially on it's on if i understand it right, certainly franchised so to speak by the school under rules/guidelines by the school, I'm sure I probably don't have it all exactly as it is. But back to original intent, we got a chance to be in the big picture in cfb imo.

That's the öööötiest headline ever. Basically he just said they're trying to figure out how those Clemson players who tested positive got the substances in their system. That's it. There is no news here.

Not really -- it leads to suspensions. I'm pretty sure Clemson doesn't want its players having PEDs in their system, accidental or not.

So, coaches can make $10M a year, leave any time they want to, make tons of outside money, make $M if they are fired, etc., but players don’t get paid, can’t transfer without sitting out a year, get nothing for schools using their names, get dismissed for infractions, etc.

I guess you are right. The NCAA doesn’t want to mess this up. They are on the gravy train too.

This is America. Let everybody do whatever they want. If players want to play as amateurs they’re welcome to play in one of the many amateur leagues. If players want to play as professionals they’re welcome to try that instead.

I don't see how the NCAA would have any ability to set a cap on coaching salaries. This isn't the NFL where the franchises only exist as members of the league itself.

If they tried to do anything of the sort (and I don't think there's any real impetus to do so), they'd be legislating themselves into extinction as the university administrations would reject them and set up a new governing body.

You keep saying "accidentally" in quotes and italics, but Dabo never said that, did he?

Unless I'm missing something, all that this article says is a reporter asked if it's possible that the players were exposed to it by the school, and Dabo said they're looking into every possibility, including that.

Nothing has changed since the positive tests first came out, as far as I can tell.

Just playing devil’s advocate, but if the NCAA cannot set a cap on coaching salaries, then how can they not allow players to take money for their services. I’d say put a $0.5M limit on coaches salaries and if the coaches did not like it they could go coach in one in the many professional leagues.

That's funny, that's exactly what the NCAA does for players. There's a cap on their compensation and if they don't like it they can go play in one of the many professional leagues.
