:cool:Just heard from ISP Sports that the Clemson game, our second at Bobby Dodd this fall and on a Thursday night game at that, will be a WHITE OUT. The students wanted it....the team wanted it so let's spread the word starting now.
Last year against Miami, I bought 750 white shakers and gave them out to Club section seat holders. Personally. But this year, I am going to do my absolute best to get my company to sponsor this and get thousands of white shakers. The game is early and will still be excellent weather. So no excuse of not wearing a white shirt of some kind. White caps. White shakers....let's
WHITE OUT Bobby Dodd
!
But I am also looking for others who might have connections with their companies or such. GOAL ONE: We NEED to minimally have a shaker for everyone in the lower bowl. GOAL TWO: We NEED to have a white shaker for EVERY Yellow Jacket fan. So I will do my part personally and professionally. Can I find a few others to do their part? The more money we raise the lower the price on shakers. It's early and with a super concentrated effort, there is no reason to not make this a super hot success and keep the orange OUT!
Picture this...Atlanta, Georgia at Boddy Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field.
FULL STEAM AHEAD
! A sold out game, National TV exposure. Georgia Tech looking for a terrific (expecting?) season. White EVERYWHERE! The new video board does an overload. The ribbon board blazes. The roar is deafening. BOBBY DODD STADIUM is back folks.
So please help out and let's get sponsors for this game...let's get 40 - 45 thousand WHITE SHAKERS. It's about the look, the atmosphere, the TEAM. And we are the TEAM.

Thoughts everyone?

This is all fine and dandy, but things like this can get out of hand. See UGA's "black out" and what happened to them when they played Alabama. I dont want our team/fans becoming more concerned about what they are going to wear than about the task at hand.

Did people last season care more about graduating a class of seniors from Miami who had never beaten Tech, or about the fact that they wore white to the game? I know what you're trying to say but I don't think there's anyone who will be there going "LOOK AT ME I WORE WHITE" instead of "YEAAAAAAA TOUCHDOWN!!"

I liked the Miami game last year. But its going to look a lot different in the middle of September. The sun won't even be down most of the game. At least there won't be people able to complain about not having a white sweater or coat.

The sun will be down....game time is usually around 8:00 so it will have set...but not the point anyways.
If anyone doesn't get the drift of a white out, fine. And I could give a flip about anything that Athens home of the demented does. Don't want to wear white? Fine. Don't want to be part of the TEAM? Fine. Let's not try to tear this apart and make it something it isn't. If you think this comes cheap, think again.

Yeah I agree! I'm going to wear white either way! I'm going to support the Jackets either way even if I have to wear pink.

There is no doubt in my mind that the white out last year got the team even more pumped up for the Miami game. It was a HUGE success. That was the most electric BDS has been in a long time (not counting the FSU fumble at the end of the game).

I am all for wearing white, and the 3 folks going with me will wear white too. I hope we continue to do this once a year.

Boooo! Somebody clue the AA in that all we need to do is select the first day game of the season, then every engineer can just go topless. Now THAT's a white out!

I wore white to the Miami game last year and ended up having a great time - one of the best home games at BDS in years. Once we lose in a white out it will be less fun. But, for now, why not have some fun with it. I'll be there in white.

A white out is a lot easier than what ECU is trying. They have Va Tech coming to Greenville for an ESPN Thursday night gam in early November. They are calling for a "pirate out", wanting to see 40,000 fans in pirate outfits. At least we aren't all dressing as yellow jackets.

For the people that say the white out idea is stupid and old hat, you should look at what Penn State does. Almost all of their games look like white outs. They were one of the first to do it and now instead of the entire stadium dressing in the same color for one game a year almost every game looks like a white out.

I'm not saying I want to be Penn State, but if we were ever able to get the fan base to were one color to the games (instead of the 30 shades of gold/yellow/mustard we wear now) BDS would be a lot more intimidating. I think it would be a lot easier to make the primary color for fans to wear, white than to unify the gold/yellow/mustards that are already on the market.

That involves a state of fan unity that us GT fans can only dream about.

Hell, we can't even agree what color gold is much less agree to wear it.

Didn't read the rest of the post did you? The point was maybe white should be the primary color people wear to games. No argument of shade of color, and it can look very intimidating when done right. I didn't say I want us to be Penn State (and infact stated I didn't) nor do I want us to imitate them, just to say it can look good and if even done half ass will probably look better than the 30 shades of gold we wear now.

If the students and team want it. I'll follow suit. I think its a fun idea and will add a little electricity. I'm thinking were going to stomp 'em and I want it to look as good as possible for a national audience.

It will probably look even better than the miami game because nobody could see my white t under my 4 layers of jackets and sweaters.
