Clemson Game To BEE A White Out!

Honestly I think if we keep the current trend the white out will be just fine. UGag screwed theirs up by doing it 3 times in two years (twice in 2007) and then getting creamed while doing it last year. If/when we lose while doing it the idea will take a blow but it really only takes a huge embarrassment like that debacle to kill the idea.

Didn't read the rest of the post did you?
I read and agree with your post. I was pointing out that the remarkable unity displayed by the Penn St. fans is something I do not think Tech fans will ever achieve but agree that we should keep trying.

I'm surrounded by Penn St. fans where I work (DC) and think they are some of the more enlightened fan bases around. Passionate but sensible.

The difference is that ugag started to believe their black out had some mystical powers to help them win big games. As long as it's all in fun and done to support the team, it's a great idea. Many schools do this and some do it more than once a year, they just don't make such a big production out of it. My kid is at Maryland and they do it fairly often in the student section at least. Red one week, black another. They invite the rest of the fans to participate but it's no big deal either way (since most wear red or black anyway). But it's fun and helps provide a sense of unity.

Bleedgold-

What are the expected costs of the shakers? How much did you pay per shaker last year? How much cheaper will it get as quantities increase?

I think we should make this happen. Who knows, maybe even get a collection going here, and just have the stingtalk address printed on the handles as the sponsor...

I think this is a very important game to do it. If GT manages to have a Miami'ish type game like last year, it could give the team just enough boost to get through that tough stretch of games they have after Clem. I really think the team last year really showed more umph because of the white out. If they like it, I like it.

This is an awful idea. It amazes me how they can get this wrong two years in a row. One year they do it when it's freezing, the next they do it when our ENTIRE NORTH ENDZONE and half of the rest of the upper deck is going to be ORANGE. At least the orange kind of blends in with the gold on TV; now we will just be pointing out how much of our stadium is inhabited by opposing players.

Very true....

This is all fine and dandy, but things like this can get out of hand. See UGA's "black out" and what happened to them when they played Alabama. I dont want our team/fans becoming more concerned about what they are going to wear than about the task at hand.
I agree with this guy. Instead of improving gameday atmosphere our fans need to focus on blocking Clemson's talented D-line.

Well at the very least our stadium will be a great advertising medium for a Mayfield Dreamsicle. Hopefully that cow will give us better luck than the chick-fil-a cow.

I wasn't aware that our fans will be in the O-Line rotation. Hopefully, we won't get called for any chop blocks...

I support the white out. If nothing else, Tech fans won't argue about which shade of white to wear to the game.
