Clemson post game - NO VENTING

and if I were Lucas Johnson, I'd be working my ass off. Work on speed and strength. He already throws a pretty pass. Clemson's QB was able to get yards just on the sheer size of their QB. We don't have that. I feel our QB position is Lucas' for the taking if he works hard in the offseason. I know y'all have this thing for Jay Jones, but we need a bigger QB.

We had 281 yards vs Miami and 230 vs Clemson. 281 yards isn't "fine" by my definitions.
Until KirVonte Benson got injured, we moved the ball when we needed to and were going to beat a top 10 team on the road. The vast majority of teams in the country would love to have standards that would allow them to look on that game as a subpar performance. It wasn't our best, by any stretch, but that's kind of my point.

I was thinking the same thing. TM is probably the best running QB we've had (excepting yesterday) but unless something changes he is not going to be able to keep a defense honest with his arm.

Clemson gives up 13.1 ppg, even including the Syracuse debacle. We scored 14 even with a horrible game from our QB. It wasn't fun to watch, but should we really be that surprised and butthurt about it?
Wait, when did we scored 14? Or are you saying hypothetically with horrible QB play we'd score 14 and TM was even worse than horrible?

Sorry, mistyped because the margin was 14. You have a point, though.

He was trying to win. Post-game he said he was trying to pin them then get a defensive stop.

Which is dumb, considering we need 2 scores and there's only 4 minutes left. That'd make sense halfway thru the 4th but not at the 4 minute mark.

I don't know about dumb. He was saying he thought we could pin them deep because they'd have their hands team out.

Then if we get a 3 and out, we get the ball back around midfield with around 3 minutes left. Score then and we onside kick. That may be more likely to happen than converting two onside kicks.

Clemson had a bye week to prepare and extra motivation after the loss to Syracuse. Home field advantage is probably a bigger issue in the rain. They looked like the defense that shut out Ohio State in the playoffs last year. We need to bounce back against UVA.

I can see how opinions might be divided on the offensive performance against Miami. I thought we looked good in the first half, but mostly terrible in the second half.

In Death Valley, on the other hand, it was mostly just ded.

I don’t recall very much (if any) success against Venables without midline. I also don’t think CPJ likes to call it with Marshall.

could be repost but ...

at least we don't have two plays away from being undefeated to think about

2 games lost this year due to stupidity, bad info, or bad luck?

When will GT EVER FREAKING LEARN to always bring the depleted uranium tip, bifurcated, cross cut cleats?

WHY IN HEAVENS NAME - WHY!!!!!!!!

Here's some interesting info regarding the NCAA cleat rules...

7. Shoe cleats (Rule 9-2-2-e) must conform to the following specifications:

a. They may not be more than 1/2-inch in length (measured from tip of cleat to the shoe). (See below for an exception for detachable cleats.)
b. They may not be made of any material that burrs, chips or fractures.
c. They may not have abrasive surfaces or cutting edges.
d. Nondetachable cleats only may not be made of any metallic material.
e. Detachable cleats:
(1) Must have an effective locking device.
(2) May not have concave sides.
(3) If conical they may not have flat free ends not parallel to their bases or less than 3/8-inch in diameter or rounded free ends having arcs greater than 7/16-inch.
(4) If oblong they may not have free ends not parallel with bases or that measure less than 1/4-inch by 3/4-inch.
(5) If circular or ring-shaped they must have rounded edges and a wall at least 3/16-inch thick.
(6) If steel-tipped they must contain low carbon steel of 1006 material, case hardened to .005-.008 depth and drawn to Rockwell hardness of approximately C55

Note: The distance in paragraph (a) for detachable cleats may exceed ½ inch if the cleat is attached to a 5/32-inch or less raised platform wider than the base of the cleat and extended across the width of the shoe to within 1/4-inch or less of the outer edges of the sole. A single toe cleat does not require a raised platform that extends across the width of the sole. The raised platform of the toe cleat is limited to 5/32-inch or less. The 5/32-inch or less is measured from the lowest point of the platform to the sole of the shoe.
