CGC is a great recruiter. I'm a little concerned about how good of a coach he will be though. No one is claiming that our talent level is high. The problem is we are underachieving with what we have.

Nice story except for Graham played in the first half and Oliver's second fumble was in second half when we were once again rotating QB's in the middle of a drive. Graham got a first down, Oliver came in and fumbled on his second play of the series.

Well, we know he was a pretty damned good coordinator at Mississippi State and later at Florida. The defense is at least showing signs of positive improvement on his watch.

He kept the wheels on the Temple program after taking over for 2 years.

I don’t think he or any of our other coaches suddenly forgot what they are doing. I do think that they have not done a very good job of adapting to what is here. We should really just do what we did all last year and that is run 80% qb keepers.

Agreed the defense is better and that's been refreshing after years of poor defense. A good OC may be the missing piece.

Kept the wheels on !? They just went through a major turnaround and won 10 games in back to back seasons before he arrived.
 
Just like in 2015 when all you dummies were surprised at how valuable Shaq Mason was, so you are today with Parker Braun. People forget that CPJ rarely had more than two solid linemen - and those were “I only know how to run block” linemen. All of our problems start and end with the OL right now. They’re making the QB situation looks worse than it is (it’s still bad).

We were forced to rotate qbs because Graham injured his throwing hand during that drive.

Now for a good argument against rotating qbs in the middle of drives, we were called for a false start the play immediately after Graham got hurt and Oliver came back in.

Thing is even if we did run 80% qb keepers, they wouldn't be the same kind of qb keeper. It might actually be asking a lot for a coach to try and replicate something like Johnson's offense without any experience in it. Trying to do so without really knowing how could be worse than trying to run the system they're familiar with even if it's a bad fit for the players. Not like Johnson left a play sheet around for them to look over.
