It's clear that Collins is going to be a dabo-esque coach, like it or not. Fortunately that is the way college ball is going, unfortunately it requires some really talented position coaches which of course every school is searching for. He obviously takes a favor to the defense given his background which is just fine and I think the defensive effort all year reflects that. With some recruiting, I think we will have a pretty formidable defensive unit. The issue is that they can't carry all the weight and will need an offense that can score some points and for that we need something like the opposite of brent venables in the OC position to excel. Is CDP the man? Who knows for sure, but I personally don't think he is.
I foresee 2 more years of solid recruiting with disappointing results on offense before Collins realizes DP isn't the guy. Until then, each year we win more games just because the talent level is increasing on offense and because our defense is a beast. After that, we pick up someone that knows how to use the much more talented offensive roster and I see 9-10 wins in year 5 or 6.
That's a long road, buckle up because you're gonna want to run the car into a brick wall several more times until we get there. Remember though, when we get to your mom's house, nobody remembers the trip being all that awful just how much fun we're gonna have from that point on.
