May get roasted for this, but I was thinking today about the colors, something that’s always irked me is (besides the fact we can’t land on a gold) is the blue/black thing. My opinion, keep ‘em both! Always have white and gold but mix one or both, but stop with the blue pants.

The gold was standardized a few years back, though if I remember right it's different standardized gold colors for different contexts due to cameras, lighting, etc.

(Then of course we can't find gold paint in those specified colors so have no gold at all. Brilliant.)

It’s because an idiot (Tud) had final say on the gold. You would think that when picking an “official gold” they would have done things like determine product availability as well as its appearance on different media, lighting, cameras, etc.

There is no crisis. The official colors are here: https://brand.gatech.edu/our-look/colors

The problem is that clothing manufacturers either don’t look at the guide or can’t reproduce some of those shades cheaply, so they just use whatever they have in stock.
Since when is blue a "primary" color. It wasn't even a "secondary" color until TStan crammed it down our throats. When was it designated a "primary" one?

The honeycomb helmets are the worst. I never want to see them again. Everything else is tolerable. But my favorite will always be the attire during the GOL/Joe Ham era.

I think the honeycomb helmets work as a special once per season. Hated the bubble wrap jerseys though.

You couldn’t see the honeycomb on the helmets from the stands. Couldn’t really see it on TV unless they did a close up shot
Never really bothered me then
On TV for the vast majority of shots, it just looked like a white helmet

??? Blue has been a color for far longer than TStan has been involved. We won a Natty wearing Blue

I realize that, but it was NEVER considered a primary color. We were FORCED to choose a dark color for jerseys in the 1980s because of a stupid change of rules by the NCAA that said the home team had to wear dark jerseys at home, whereas Tech had been wearing white jerseys at home for at least 40 years, because the opponents were more than willing to wear their own dark jerseys. For unknown reasons Tech chose to wear blue jerseys rather than the more appropriate gold jerseys. Even then, though, blue was considered a tertiary color, with white and gold being primary colors with no secondary color indicated. TStan decided, based on some obscure article in the Tech newspaper from the early 1900s that blue had always been a Tech color. The problem is that if anybody bothered to read that article, it was a fraternity who used blue for some kind of event, and not a school-wide choice. And so he lied and elevated the tertiary blue (black was also a tertiary color) to secondary status. I don't remember anybody elevating it to primary status, which is what that link posted earlier indicated. Even though uniforms prior to the 40s or mid 30s were neither white, gold, nor blue, Tech has always been the White and Gold, as indicated in both our fight songs. I hated the blue jerseys in the 80s and early 90s, and I still hate them, and I hate blue pants or all blue even more.

If I am not mistaken, even as recently as last season, the covering on the padding on the walls at field level around the stadium had the honeycomb design on them. I was more than happy to see at the Spring game, that those coverings are gone, as were the atrocious blue end zones.
