as the board grows we(the admins) are being put in the position to keep the traffic moving smoothly.

This process is similar to having painted lines on I-285. It is a necessary constraint.

1. StinGTalk was created to allow GT fans a forum to speak freely. Stingtalk will ALWAYS allow open and frank discussions and this will never change.

2. However there is a difference between coming back from the Ugag game and stating the players quit and the coaches should be fired AND 8 months later attacking a coach personally.

3. Within the next couple of days I will be posting a poll on the board. I have some ideas on some questions but I would like feedback from any members that would like to see a question added.

Basically we want the board to keep improving. We are very happy with the growth in membership and we are viewed by double that number (many lurkers have not signed up).

It is something I want feedback on b/c like I said I want everyone to feel free to critique coach/ad's performance, but that has nothing to do with some of the recent posts.

The other thing is THIS IS A GT BOARD. Why are people surprised that people on this board have a positive attitude towards GT people?

It is almost like members are FANatics for GT. Many people treat GT coaches like family. Just b/c you have a loser uncle/cousin you still take up for them. That is why the personal attacks are SO offensive to some people.

I am a realist. I know that if we lose to BYU this board will light up, but at least people will have something to say. When I receive complaints is it about "personal" attacks.

If someone stated in a post that CG failed to develop AJ last year. NO ONE IS GOING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THAT POST

Beestorm comented that some of the posts were not FOOTBALL posts and should just be moved to the off topic forum. This is something we have done in the past.

We just want this board to be the best place it can be.

If you are a fan of GT you should want CG to be successful.

Can anyone tell me any reason why a legit fan of GT would want CG to fail?

Why would you attack anyone personally? If you want to critique his performance that is fine. He is paid a LARGE salary and that is his job.

Look at your signature. Why are you criticizing people for supporting the head coach of their favorite school?

I'm curious and have a question, but first a preface.

I lurk much more than I post, and to be brief, I am just not emotionally attached one way or the other regarding CG at this point. So I view the various debates and look at both sides. So, I don't "have a horse in this race" so to speak.

My question is this. (Your post above is a departure from previous philosophy of this board).

Is there pressure from any Tech source to get the board on a positive note, and/or make changes in that direction ? (maybe just my intuition) - Its not accusatory, I'm just curious.

Now to be politically incorrect and state a taboo:
I HOPE we don't turn into the Hive. The censorship there (either through peer pressure or by the admins) has become silly. This is a great board and I think that in the offseason, w/o any new news its almost a given that old stuff will get rehashed....When it does, I, for one, just don;t open that particular thread - like turning the channel when a show I don;t like comes on. So whats the big deal ?

I'd sure HATE to lose the culture that we have over here

If you are a GT fan I think you want GT to be 12-0. If that happens CG will have had one of the best years in GT history (if not the best).

it is my hope that you do not ruin this board. please do not change anything. why must gt fans be any different than any other football fans. either we are big time or we are also rans , when chan took this job he took on a salary equal to presenting a competitive product. there is no fan board on any southern school with a football reputation, that would not be still fuming from the debacle that took place at the end of last season. CAN YOU SAY TOTALLY EMBARRASSED.

we routinely deny membership to ugag fans. This board is for people who want GT to be successful.

Sometimes that means complaining about AD's or coaches, but it always comes back to wanting GT to be successful.

If someone develops an agenda that rises to the level he/she wants GT to fail then this board would not be the place for them. That is why we deny membership to Ugag fans.

*We have received nothing but support for our board. However some members have been complaining lately about the slant of certain posts.

The reason I am opening this topic up is to get a read on how the members feel. When I do the poll everyone will see how people stack up.

Maybe most feel everything is perfect and if that is the case all will stay the same. However I want members to feel they have a voice for any concerns they may have.

Beestorm and I are continually tweeking the board but we prefer to stay behind the scenes. We feel that moderators get in the way, however we are doing this now to give people the opportunity to speak out.

Gold Rush, I can probably answer that question. This board has nothing to do with Georgia Tech. It is like The Hive. It is independently owned by GTFan and BeeStorm.

Some of the posters contribute to its upkeep, but most of the cost is directly by GTFan and BeeStorm. They are like RR on The Hive. It is their board, and we are all guests.

The only thing I have seen since I have been on the board was one poster who seemed to irritate many of the others with very grating posts. I assume he no longer has privileges to post at present.

Sometimes the owner must sacrifice a single poster to save a larger quantity from leaving the board. I have seen very little intervention from the moderators since being on this board.

I have been on it almost from the beginning. Law-bee has also and could probably back up these statements. I am a very satisfied poster who says almost anything he wants within reason.

In my humble opinion this needs to be decided one and for all.
If negative gets the most posts and thus tolerated, then the answer is certain.
I negative get full reign, then again, the answer is certain.

We want this board to be the best it can be. Who decides what is best? The members

I have already learned much from this thread. The reality is MOST do not complain and I want to make sure ALL are heard.

Something doesn't make sense here.. If your traffic is increasingy dramatically, then what is the problem??? The answer is IN the traffic... If your traffic was WAY down you would want to change things.. People keep coming back here, particularly lately 'cause they are being entertained & enjoying themselves.. If they weren't enjoying themselves, they wouldn't be coming back... Simple as that... By the large number of posts this board is receiving, your members have ALREADY spoken... and they LIKE it...

I dont think there is anything wrong with "fuming" over the collapse of last season or having high expectations.. I didnt like the loss to Georgia, and didnt like some of the things I witnessed.. there isnt anything wrong with pointing out mistakes that were made by Gailey or whoever.. but in my opinion, many on this board remind me of some of the drivers you see on I-285... its just road rage.. everyone gets frustrated, but there are limits for everything.. I think in many cases those limits are exceeded on this board with the continual negative posts.. if I truly felt that negative about something and couldnt change it.. I would just move on..

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Ah, Beestorm and I would disagree. It is the members board. We are merely the caretakers. That is not to say that this is pure democracy however it is probably close to that.

We WANT the members to feel like this is their board. If you have a concern I want to hear about it.
