Something doesn't make sense here.. If your traffic is increasingy dramatically, then what is the problem??? The answer is IN the traffic... If your traffic was WAY down you would want to change things.. People keep coming back here, particularly lately 'cause they are being entertained & enjoying themselves.. If they weren't enjoying themselves, they wouldn't be coming back... Simple as that... By the large number of posts this board is receiving, your members have ALREADY spoken... and they LIKE it...
<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Maybe you are right, however sometimes we could lose GREAT MEMBERS b/c you are yanking their chain.

I have read your posts and I truly believe you to be a GT fan w/o an agenda. I also believe you enjoy yanking people's chain.

I know that sensitive people are going to have a hard time on a message board, however I also know that this could be a very troubling time in GT's history.

If we go 0-4 (God forbid) then it is going to be tough around here.

But I will do a poll later and we will see how the members feel.

Where else except in "loser programs" will you find such dastardly comments toward the leadership of the football team and the administration. Repeat: LOSER PROGRAMS.
I for one do not want to be indentified with those punks!!!! I long for the semi-supporters who pose as "season ticket holders/attenders" to have their rightful say;and if it is not for the FULL SUPPORT of
GEORGIA TECH, no matter what, .....I say ANaTHEMA!!!!

I think a poll is an excellent idea. I will gladly participate. Thanx!

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I'm not being entertained here much at all. I am appreciated and thankful some things (Example AXE's Pictures). I'm thankful for the board. As some think some things are an embarressment, I feel strongly the constant attach on our head coach is even a bigger embarressment. Some might think it's fun. I don't.

I'm here for others that are in far away places that love GT. Some blame the past for their behavior on the board. Do I think coaches should be questioned? Yes, of course. Do I think having an agenda on a public message board to land blast this coach is good for GT? Certainly not.

There are many different walks of life that read this boards from fans, players, recruits, and so on.

While I don't know if some people have agenda's here, it sure comes across that way. By no means do I feel it's good for GT.

BTW, of course the board traffic is going to increase in time. It's becoming know. Could the traffic be better? Could this be a better board? I think that's what GTfan and Beestorm are looking at. Personally, that's the way I feel we should look at every aspect of life. Those who want things to stay the same, well nothing ever does. You either move forward, or you move back. There are always ways to become better.

GO JACKETS!

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Those people also get paid to make fun of the President of the United States. The cartoonists, the joke writers, Leno, Letterman, etc. etc.
What IS REALLY SAD is you don't get paid, yet find the time to make some pretty useless negative comments about Coach Gailey on a dailey basis. Like we don't know how you feel about the coach already, I get to read the board for a clever post by old Beebad to remind me again. (Ahhhh the Gailey Double.... you clever jokester you. The Tonight Show is minutes away from beating down your door to pen your joke writing skills to a contract.)

Guys like you just Bitch and hide behind a computer.

Hi everyone,

Just my 2 cents worth. I enjoy the free-spirited exchange of views found here and the occasional bit of news.

For my taste, about 95% of what's posted here is OK with me, even though it does seem a bit much sometimes. Like others have said much better than I, I just don’t read those threads.

If I were burdened with administering this board I would be very hesitate to make any changes. But as a poster, I wonder what would be the impact if their were a few more restrictions.

For example, I think those that are paid by GTAA to put a winning team on the field are free game for having their performance criticized and opinions offered as to whether they should be fired for poor performance. But personal character attacks and name calling is over the top for my taste.

When it comes to players, I think, taking a scholarship and stepping on the field makes you also open to criticism on the basis of performance, but here I would be even more careful about allowing personal attacks to take place.

Having said all that, seems like recently, the spice content has been much greater than in the past.

Maybe it’s just the July doldrums and we all are just anxious for some real football.

One caveat on name calling, who ever thought up "da braine" was inspired. This work of art should continue to be exhibited.

I'm pretty much in favor of a "free marketplace of ideas" and of free expression. When people set out to be provocative, like Beebad, ghost, ylo, BOR, (and I) sometimes do, I think most of us get the picture, and tune out what is just silly.

Each one of those guys is different and pushes different buttons in others: it makes an interesting board. My hope is that the anti-Chan guys will catch on to what you are saying, gtfan, about the difference between criticism and nastiness. I also hope that they will take seriously what many of us are reporting: that they sound negative about Georgia Tech.

If I may repeat myself, too often the feeling you get from some posters is that they are sneering at the GT football program and coaches. I don't like that, and I am glad to tell them I don't like it. But I don't think any of them really mean what they sound like they mean, which is, put simply, that Georgia Tech sucks. I think we should be able to beat them over the head until they get it: you don't shit in your own nest.

It doesn't matter whether you're ultimately correct about CG or Braine or McWhorter or O'Leary, you don't shit in your own nest. Period. You shouldn't even give that impression; you know who you are.

Thanks to both the moderators for running a great board, and thanks to all posters who are True Gold fans, which except for the occasional passin dawg or dookie, is all of us.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Interesting in chat tonight. There was a great deal of football chat. By that I mean we were talking nuts and bults of our team and focusing on the start of a new season.

Why is it that a bunch of us can do that in Chat, but it's not flowing football talk on this board?

Doldum in July? You're GT life is much different than mine.

Go Jackets!

That administration became famous for not making a decision until the appropriate fingers were first licked & then raised into the air... There's already enough feeling going on around here.. let's see some thinking !

GTTerrific,

I've never used the chat board, little nervous about my computer skills (and typing skills). I try to proof read and spell check everything and I still make mistakes.

But from your comments, there is a different tone in the chat room, more nuts and bolts discussions? If so, that’s interesting. Is this a change?

I have to add this, we have more than enough nuts here.....

Good luck GTFan. =]

Even the smallest effort to protect GT student
athletes may be viewed as wholesale censorship.

And efforts to stop the hijacking of viable threads
will be viewed as even more invasive.

A handfull of posters can ruin a large number of
real discussions. Its really a question of how
much of that you allow.

People lament about the loss of the old Hive
atmosphere and the disappearance of old fonts.

The atmosphere changed and fonts left because we
let the bashing and hijacking go on for too long.
They simply gave up and left in alot of cases. I
see a few have returned, since we booted a few
hijackers. But the damage was still done.

Again, good luck.

But when you say you don't have a dog in the fight I do not understand.

If you are a GT fan I think you want GT to be 12-0. If that happens CG will have had one of the best years in GT history (if not the best).
<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">___________________________________________

Of course I want Tech to be 12-0. I've been a Tech fan for 40+ years. through thick and thin. Heck, I was raised on Tech football.

I'm just saying that I haven't taken a side on the whole issue of CG yet, as I am awaiting this years team. I do believe he needs another year, but I definitely have concerns. Thats what I meant.

My question still remains :

Has there been any pressure from any source related to Tech AA to make the board more "positive" ?

I also add- I love this board and I hope nothing changes......

The irony is, when the people post the "negative" posts, those who oppose it only highlight it by taking the bait EVERY time. If those guys would just ignore it, it would scroll down rapidly and over time, those "negative" posters would either stop or go somewhere else....So why not just ignore those posts ????

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">No, of course not. There has been NO pressure from any source related to Tech AA to make the board more "positive". The purpose of this poll is just to guage the thoughts and opinions of our users. We have grown a bit in our 2+ years and we just want to hear what users think. Our philosophy is unchanged. We will always provide an open forum for the exchange of ideas.

On a personal note, I love this board. I love posting here and I love reading others' posts. We all have different opinions, but that's the beauty of a board. We can post our opinions and dispute things with other GT fans. It is a great thing.

threads alone.
