Utah started FIVE freshmen on defense last night, including two on their D-line. All of their top four cornerbacks are true freshmen. How does this work? Maybe they know how to coach them up? Nevermind - Jimmies and Joes ALWAYS beat X's and O's, amirite?
Their leading tackler last night was a true freshman safety named Cole Bishop.
From Fayettteville, GA!!! Eight tackles, seven solo, one sack and one pass defended. A three star whom Kirby prolly puked at. I know Tech tried to croot him. Anyone know what went wrong and he wound up way the hell out in Utah?
Their left tackle is a huge monster JUCO trasnsfer from London, England who just started playing football a few years ago. Their best receiver is a 5'8" former HS QB. Their thousand yard starting RB was anotrher JUCO transfer was literally living in a car a year ago. He replaced another kid who no one wanted and who became PAC-12 freshman of the year before he died of an accidental gunshot last December. That kid, Ty Jordan, was SPECIAL.
AFAIK, they have one former four star on the defense - one of the freshman CBs. Their QB is also a former four-star who transferred from Texas. I believe that is it.
MaxPreps and Rivals and 247Sports do not have a lock on deciding who can play and who can't. No one offered any FBS scholarships to Aaron Rodgers. Josh Allen barely got one. Carson Wentz? Wound up in FCS. Rivals had Aaron Donald as a three star. Etc., etc., etc.
We can have all the 404 and WH and money down and juice in the world, but we will NEVER out-croot ugag, Bama, Clemson, UF, etc. for prep ranking websites' 4 and 5 stars even in our own backyard.
Maybe we should find someone who can spot the talent that the geniuses at Rivals and Maxpreps miss, or who somehow wind up in JUCO,
AND who can actually "coach 'em up?"
