I believe it's possible to recruit great players to Tech, to fill up BDS@HGF, and to win national championships at Tech. When Bobby Ross was hired, things were in worse shape than they are now. But, when I asked him if he thought he could win a national championship at Tech, he said "yes." Today, Stansbury said the same thing this morning.

I'm sad to see Paul Johnson leave. I'll particularly miss watching him give plays to guys and send them onto the field to run them. However, Coach Johnson chose to leave. So, I think we should see this as an opportunity to move up to the highest level. If we spent the money necessary to get a great coach and a great staff, it would be an investment in the future. It would also change people's perception of Tech football.

If Tech gives Atlanta and the state of Georgia a reason to get excited about Tech football, there is no limit to what Tech can do. I think in the news conference today that it was clear that Coach Johnson thinks there's a ceiling to what Tech football can achieve, while AD Stansbury doesn't agree. That makes me think there's hope that this change will be for the best.

One thing is certain. I have confidence in Todd Stansbury, and I'm going to be fully supportive of whoever he picks to be our next head coach. Coach Johnson did a great job and gave me some great memories, but I'm excited about what's coming next.

IF we move away from the CPJ tree, Bill Clark would be an awesome hire IMO

What is it about Stansbury that gives you confidence?

Stansbury is a Tech man and understands Tech. I think it takes several years for what an AD is doing to become fully visible, but we've already seen some positive things. I think they are just an example of other things he's doing. Plus, Coach Johnson praised him at today's news conference and said he was the reason he didn't retire years agowould be a big asset to our next coach. More than anything else, Stansbury knows the challenge but still said today that we could compete for ACC championships and the playoffs. Todd Stansbury loves Tech, and I think he wants to use this unsought opportunity to make his biggest contribution to Tech.

He says the right stuff and he has done some things I really like; new locker rooms, updating the substance policy, etc. He is lightyears ahead of Bobinski already.

That said, he has never hired a head football coach. So, I'm confident to a degree, but there is still a lot that's unknown. Certainly, I'm supportive and pulling for him to get it right.

Bill Clark would be an awesome hire. Im a UAB grad and follow their program pretty closely, he is a good coach and an even better person. When UAB closed their program down he stayed for his guys and continues to fight for them. He has a very clear idea of how to field a good team with a small fan base and a board of education that does not support his program. He does rely on some JuCo transfers but I think that is more of a function of the program being shut down and trying to balance classes than it is his overall plan for success. We could certainly do much worse

Sounds like he'd fit right in at Tech

What is it about Stansbury that gives you confidence?

On my official, he took the time to give me a tour of campus as well as getting program director to come in on a Saturday. He's the one that laid foundation for UCF to get to where they are now. Lots of experience.

Here's a hypothetical out of the box wild card candidate that knows how to win at a tough academic school
