Confident in Todd Stansbury

Gaggers at the height of their powers.

Redheaded stepchild of the ACC.

Craptastic coaching hire.

Can't read behind the Hive's paywall, but comments in the thread seetm to indicate that Peterson is influencing the search and that "KW" and "GC" are the frontrunners. I'm assuming that's Whisenhunt and Geoff Collins.

Good God. TStan sucks. What the hell does Prez Bud know about athletics?

Just wait until he öööös the hiring for head coach.
If he does... What if he does his job and hires a great coach? I'm also pissed that I don't get to go to the bowl this year, but flaming him on Twitter in front of the whole world and all of our potential head coaching candidates makes us seem like a bunch of ööööheads. öööö, maybe we are a bunch of ööööheads

He doesn't care what we think. We are the part of the fanbase that is dumb option lovers. He will get his pro-set running boyfriend Wisenhunt in here. Because if we knew as much about the game as we thought we did, we'd be in it, or we'd have played it like he is/did.

Why the öööö is Bud even still employed by us? Fire him, then start down the rest of the staff and evaluate based on performance.

Yeah I mean why would anyone not be confident in this guy
In all seriousness, why not? We got shafted on the bowl, and we have a stupid-but-industry-normal water bottle policy. On every important thing he's firing on all cylinders – bringing on new recruiting assistants, raising a ton of money, making his support of the football program loud and clear, leaving Russell, creating Tech Gold, creating the athletics innovation initiative, etc.

CPJ has been super-clear that TStan understands what our problems are and is working to solve them in a way that MBob wasn't, and with a faithfulness and loyalty to Tech that DRad obvs didn't have. The guy's kinda milquetoast, but he's Canadian and he's a university administrator. Not sure I want it any other way.

Maybe he should consider LASIK.

I've praised Todd's work before, and yes, some things have been improved over the non-existent Bobinski leadership. This bowl selection is a huge miss, and the fact that Whisenhunt is even in the mix is a giant red flag.

I don't want Whisenhunt based on what I know, either – but I also don't think having him "in the mix" is a huge problem.

First, you need interested candidates to make other candidates interested. Increasing demand is the best way to increase supply. I don't think his interest in Whiz is purely pretextual, but it has obvious knock-on benefits to our interactions with other coaches.

Second, it is never a bad thing to establish connections between your P5 program and the NFL, however tenuous they may be. For some uneducated recruits, just knowing that an NFL coach is interested in coaching at GT may give them pause and perhaps even disbelieve the negative recruiting which claims we've got no purchase there.

Finally, while I want someone with experience, honestly I don't know the individuals enough to know with certainty who we want. It's kinda like Bud Foster – the guy was a P5 DC genius but for some reason could never get a HC job. Apparently there are other factors besides the statistics and resume that you and I can observe that can ruin a guy's chances. Similarly, there are other factors besides statistics and resume that can give a candidate greater credibility than the public can know. Just consider how ludicrous Dabo's hire seemed initially, because of his limited resume. At this point, it seems to me that we don't want Whiz, but I also know my limitations enough to know that I can't really know that the way an AD can.

None of which is to say I want Whiz or won't be disappointed if he's our choice (without a lot of explanation) – it's just to say that the fact Whiz is "in the mix" is hardly a black mark on TStan.

He’s hiring Whiz, and it doesn’t look like he’s interviewing anyone else barring surprise. This guy sucks.
