The only CB we've ever recruited since the "recruiting services" started ranking recruits who was as highly regarded as either of our top two in this class, was Kenny Scott in 2003.

Dayum.

I can only dream of having two Kenny Scotts on the field at the same time.

I'd assume it would give Groh a lot of flexibility with what he can do with the rest of the defense knowing that he has 2 CBs that he can leave on a island by themselves.

I believe that Laurence Marius was also highly regarded in the '06 class. Maybe not the best example since he left, but I get your point.

FWIW, Reuben Houston was a 4 star ATH that everyone knew would play CB. But you're right, CB and DT have traditionally been our weak links on the team over the past 10 years.

Groh plays his corners up and more agressive than our past two DCs. I am sure that will attract even more CB prospects in the future.

Definitely miss the aggression that Scott brought to the DBacks. Hope we see a return to that under Groh and this class.

Kenny Scott was a coach killer.

...

...

When he graduated it basically killed Tenuta's defense. Still have nightmares about that BC game.

Why? Kenny Scott really never lived up to his billing.
You're nuts. That guy was really, really good, and Tenuta left him on an island all game long, every game.

Name a better GT cornerback this decade. Hester might come close.

*IF* our CBs are properly "rated" in this class, then we have Marvious Hester on one corner, Kenny Scott on the other, and we just moved Jahi Word Daniels over to offense because we don't need him in coverage.

That's saying something.

Uberfail. I haven't seen any corner as good as Kenny Scott on the Flats since I've been following Tech like white on rice (Fall 1999, freshman year). Maybe if you want to go back more than a decade, you'll find one. But definitely not since.

I think Rashad Reid is a better corner. No kidding. He has the best instincts for a cornerback I've seen from a GT player since Willie Clay and I think he'll do great things in his career.

We haven't had a lot of decent cornerbacks at GT, but Kenny Scott to me is about as good as Mario Butler.

You're also limiting me to the past ten years where are recruiting by Gailey sucked and our defenses under O'Leary weren't that greta either. Willie Clay and Curly Day were both better than Kenny Scott. Lethon Flowers was a helluva lot better than Kenny Scott. Ryan Stewart bounced between cb and safety and he was better than Kenny Scott.

If I was fielding a defense today picking GT players, I'd pick Rashad Reid over Scott.

Uberfail on your part. Its apparent you don't know what a good cornerback is since you've only followed GT since 1999. And Marvious Hester played Cornerback better than Kenny Scott.

Kenny Scott's job was made easy because of Tenuta's defensive scheme of pressuring the QB from all over. He'd look like Mario Butler or any other cornerback if he was placed in any other defense.

Are we talking about the same Kenny Scott who was near awful in run support?

Honestly can't remember too much about him in run support. I seem to remember a few crack backs from him being sent in on a stunt and a couple of times getting to the rb going off tackle, but for the most part he was left alone almost all the time with the tenuta scheme.

I do remember him being in the opposing receivers face and being very physical with them all game and taking them out of rhythm. Something we haven't really seen done too much lately. But thats probably has a lot to do with change of going to a less aggressive D and a lot less bump and run.

Great CB? Nah, probably not, but good and played tough.

How does Rashaad Reid look in run support? I don't really look for "run-support" from a cornerback.

I will say this though...Kenny Scott dropped an easy pick-6 in the 2005 Georgia-GT game which would have given us the lead in the 3rd quarter.

Dumbest thing you've ever said. Ever.
So you think he did live up to his billing? Even by dropping out of school to prepare for the draft? The draft that he wasn't taken in? Kenny did some things well, but as an overall CB he couldn't hold Willie Clay's jock.

Very few could. Willie was a big time CB and played a long time in the NFL, same with Lethon Flowers.

Scott was a decent CB but no where near the shut down CB that he was thought to be. Most thought he would get better playing against Calvin but that didn't seem to happen either.

You're a smart guy, but you're WAAAAY off on this one. Kenny Scott was one of the reasons why Tenuta could get away with blitzing so often. Seriously, comparing him to Mario FN Butler is a joke.
