CPJ: I've never experienced anything like this

That's the shame of it really. Should've already been fixed. They're watching the game tapes over and over again. They're seeing what the defenses are doing.

Not to mention the doofus special teams play. Thank god we've got Butker.
You realize you just jinxed Butker into missing the 26 yard game winner against Miami. Thanks.:rotfl:

That's what I was saying.

Sometimes I wish he'd just say, "You know, our players were 1, 2, and 3-star talent coming out of high school, and a lot the the teams we face have 3, 4, and 5-star rated players. We run the offense we run because it can level the playing field when we're faced with that kind of talent differential, but only if we execute perfectly or almost perfectly. If we don't, we're toast."

coach makes $3 Million per year to 1) recruit the players 2) coach the players 3) win. He is not earning that money this year. Needs to take the blame for this dumpster fire.

He said the team didn't do what they are told and it isn't my fault. Gutless.

This is a joke, right? He LITERALLY OPENED THE ööööING PRESS CONFERENCE WITH THIS:

We look like a very poorly coached team and that starts with me

poorly coached team

starts with me

later on...

That's on us. It's on them, but it's on us. We gotta coach better than that.

People are so ignorant with these comments about PJ not taking any blame that I literally can't be sure if it is a troll.

Um, you're letting the facts get in the way of a narrative. That's so ... modern of you. We now live in a world where we didn't find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, Benghazi was because of a youtube video, and AGW and the neoDarwinian synthesis are still true.

So I found this bit on AJC today too:

Johnson was asked if he’s ever had a season in which so many key players suffered injuries.

“Don’t think so,” Johnson said, “but nobody cares.”

Johnson said it sardonically, as he tends to do, but he’s right: No one wants to hear about injuries when a team isn’t meeting expectations. There’s a fine line between explanations and excuses and, when it comes to injuries, coaches and players can’t go there without sounding like whiners.

Think about it: There’s a handy list of clichés available for them use, so as to signal that they are not making excuses. You already know them: Injuries are part of the game/no excuse. . . it's the next man up. . . Sam Superstar was important but Benny Backup did a good job. . . everybody has injuries.

Every team does have injuries but some have more than others, and some have more injuries to their important players. Tech has had both.

It’s probably no coincidence that the week after Johnson’s “nobody cares” retort, the team’s public relations staff included this nugget in its notes prior to the Clemson game: “The injury bug has hit hard, especially on offense. Tech has lost 20 games to injury of offensive starters or projected starters, and a total of 29 games to offensive players on the depth (chart).”

That would be hard for any team to overcome and it’s an especially heavy burden for the Jackets. They don’t recruit at a level that allows them to replace experienced players with touted prospects. They run an offensive system in which repetition is important, and this year they have three new starters in the offensive backfield with lots of freshmen backups.

Johnson is right that nobody wants to hear about injuries. He and his players can’t talk about them, so I will do my part and say that Tech’s struggles this season aren't only about injuries but a fair accounting must prominently include bad injury luck as a major factor.

I think PJ summed it up pretty well. Coaches gotta coach better. Players gotta play better. That's pretty much the deal.

All that being said, I still think our defense is playing well this year. They are getting turnovers and are on the field a lot more than last year. If we had the same offense we had last year, we would've won every game by 2+ touchdowns, including Clemson.

It was good for three quarters against Duke. It was good for a quarter and 12 minutes against UNC. It was pretty bad against Clemson and spotty against ND.

Easy to say the defense isn't doing well when it isn't being covered by our offense scoring 45 points a game this year. I would like to see a comparison on how we did last year against this year.

Going from OB champs to this is startling- I saw in '81 from beating Bama to losing every other game--that's a shocker

I remember that season...horrible! I always thought Curry was good at preparing the team before a game, but terrible at in-game adjustments and decision-making. That season proved it, as he had all pre-season to get ready for Bama.
