Drafted higher than any of those players. Played in more NFL games than any of them. His freshman year pre-sickness was easily better than any of theirs Jerry and Gotsis included.

Honestly outside of Jerry and Gotsis I cannot imagine any of those guys being 1st team FCS all Americans either like Taylor was.

Well, they played FBS so it would have been hard to get FCS accolades. I could easily see Brandon Adams as 1st team All American at the FCS level. Hard to know which of our players could have been FCS Superstars though. This is almost a tallest midget type argument though. He didn't want to be a Yellow Jacket, glad it worked out for him.

I only get mad when supposed GT fans go out of their way to öööö all over some of the best GT teams in my lifetime because they didn’t like the coach or they want to be right in an argument. I will never understand that.

I love what CGC is doing on the recruiting trail. We’ve badly needed that for years, and I do think he will turn things around on the field. I am pulling for him 100% and I hope he wins so many games that we forget Paul Johnson was ever even here.

See how easy that was to support the current coach AND still appreciate the accomplishments of the previous one?

this whole thread is due to PJ getting mad, bro. Tell him to calm down. He made millions and will be fine.
 
He will now that we finally have a QB for the first time in years. And a RB who is actually faster than linebackers. And OLinemen who are actually bigger than most high school lines. And DB’s who aren’t smaller than A-backs.

I loved CPJ, but he mailed it in the last few years. And if you look at it closely, it almost appears he tanked recruiting on purpose. I mean you gotta be almost intentional to end up with the QB room that Collins inherited.

I agree he had mailed it in, overall, but I felt pretty good about the QB room for his system with Graham, a four star athlete, and Yates, a four star dual threat, coming in. Don't think CPJ had gotten a QB that other P5 schools wanted at the position since Vad. Just the way it was. I think Collins/DP hoped that Lucas could be serviceable for a year. He maybe could have been if the O-line could have protected him at all. Nobody could have succeeded behind that 2019 line.

Trouble is he left a bunch of freshmen quarterbacks plus a sophomore who could or would not do anything other than run the keeper. Recruiting mistakes at quarterback would have cost him bigly if he had stayed. But he was not going to stay.

You are probably correct. We were headed towards being Georgia Southern or Kennesaw State with our talent level. I hate if any of those players read this and get upset, but we had guys on the team that had no business getting offers from a P5 school. We are rotating them out with many already gone

Hard to say. We finished 2018 one game away from the ACCCG with TM at QB. Would Yates, Graham, or a more experienced TO do better than that? Probably, because at least two of those guys could hit the deepball that TM had trouble connecting on.

Iiwii. We have gone a new direction. We have a coach who works the alumni base better. That alone will pay dividends. No need to pretend the last guy was a disaster, unless the current coach is George O’Leary.

I'm not even talking about that. I am talking about signing people who were never going to stay in the program on their own. It is easy to look like you are recruiting if you sign plausible candidates and not screen them for suitability with the school or even football. GT is not for everyone. Major football is not for everyone.

One of his "best" recruits was a quarterback who (at least said he) transferred out because we ran the option. That is something you kinda know when you sign. If he had panned out, we would not have had a quarterback gap in 2019, but he didn't pan out and I don't think he ever was going to pan out and that is on CPJ.

I don't mind him signing players for his system. I mind him signing players knowing they were not going to help us, but would still keep our recruiting rankings a bit above the mid-majors. Take them out of the equation and our talent level is below the mid-majors, and that is what happened. Facing Temple and their senior-laden roster sprinkled with pro prospects really laid that bare in 2019. Our bright spot on the roster was defensive back, but UCF's defensive backfield was miles ahead of ours this year. At least three of them will be drafted on day 1 or 2 of this upcoming draft.

It is not important (except to the players) if our players are draftable, but it is a measure of overall talent, at least when the question is 3 or 4 versus none.
