CPJ Post-game

(1) and (2) don't compute. Come on.
CPJ said that TQM didn't miss a read during some of other excellent performances this year, and yet he got pulled.

Just like many around here think CPJ is an excellent coach, but we're stuck in a rut and need a spark, and hence he has to go... so too TQM has played the position well, but when we're stuck in a rut and need a spark, he has to go.

EDIT: I'm sure a lot of it will have to do with what the defense is giving us, what we're able to do, and which player is best suited to that task. I'd hope so, at least.

I thought he was far more coy and uncommitted than OP.
I was commenting on the radio interview, but here's a transcript of the post-game presser on this topic:
On if Marshall will start next week:

“I have no idea. We’ll see if TaQuon gets healthy. We’ll watch in practice. TaQuon, he was the starter for a reason. He didn’t practice. He had one practice last week. So when he couldn’t come back and practice, my way of doing things, it’s not fair to the guys who practices all the time not to let him play. Now had (Oliver) gone out there and struggled, we could have either decided to play James (Graham) because James got a lot of work or we could have put TaQuon in there. He was cleared to play, but he hadn’t been hit since the last game, so if he’d have gotten tackled, who knows?

PJ doesn't like having a guy his job just because he got hurt.
I think his preference is to go back to TaQuon.
But ... back in 1998, he was going to start a senior over Adrian Peterson at B back. Then, the week before the season started, the senior got a "knee" injury, and AP got the start. And never came out of the starting lineup again.

Someone give Taquon a scooter, because CPJ hasnt learned shit.

How about we leave the QB decisions to the guy who just gave Van Gorder and Foster historic beatdowns using both of them. FFS some of you act like the only two variables a football team has are the head coach and the QB

How bout you stop being such a stupid ööööing dildo every time you post? This is a message board where people wanna discuss things, not Russia where everyone agrees with Putin or goes to gulag.

We ran basically three plays the entire game. I give credit to Oliver, he played a hell of a game, but it's really a negative mark on Foster that he couldn't adjust.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if CPJ goes back to Marshall. But I think our future is bright with Oliver.
I alluded to this in the game thread, but they had defenders in the box that, if they had been playing aggressively, would've forced us to have to pass. I think their inexperience caused them to sit back and try to catch the blocks rather than attack and defeat them. Bud Foster has typically done a better job coaching and convincing his players to do that, but I guess the tweaks in the way we were blocking it got him out of his gameplan and his guys got timid.

Re: qb. I think we need to simplify play calling which we do with TO in the game. TqM definitely has a better grasp of the offense, though, and is apparently the better passer. He seems to get flustered more easily. I'd rather we stick to TO and bring in TqM only if it's an obvious passing situation and only if he's 100% healthy.

TO did a great job, but he wasn't making many reads last night. They were designed runs, and why not? VPI was out of position on every play. We kept running the most basic 3 plays without options because VPI never stopped them. I can only recall two option pitches he made. One was a big gain and one was a bad fumble that we only got back because the Hokie tried to run with it instead of falling on it. Similarly, half his pass attempts saw him fall on the ground trying to throw.

I'm turbo-excited about TO's future, but I think VPI would have made Stephen Hawking look like a great QB last night. If the staff, who sees all the practices that we don't, believe TQM brings something to the table that TO doesn't yet have, I believe them.

Taquan is not stuck in a rut. He is the rut. He’s not good at running this offense.

Why the öööö would we go back to TM?

Why would he pull Oliver from USF to put TM back in, when TO was on a tear?

Wtf?

TO cant throw worth a crap or make pitch reads. He ran over VT today because they hadn’t prepped for him. It will be a problem going forward because we’re not just going to run over teams like that with vanilla play calling.

We only needed three plays all game. I'd be hella surprised if TO doesn't start against UNC.
We should be able to beat UNC with either one, honestly.

We will very likely have to pass to beat the other teams on our schedule though.

I would run a 2qb system at this point. Install something like 4 simple pass plays for Oliver, and rep the hell out if them. Then alternate QBs to minimize injuries.

Yea, I'm bumfuddled at how many on here are trying to paint TO as the slow kid who can't run plays. What we ran last night was all we needed to run. TM has looked horrible. We have been putting the ball on the ground with him starting.

What? You are implying that Taquan is the better option because he can throw? Please explain. I’ll hang up and listen.
