CPJ Post-game

Good game by TO... plays within the system unlike TQM. Needs a lot of practice on the reads or else he will get shut down by future opponents.

I think their inexperience caused them to sit back and try to catch the blocks rather than attack and defeat them. Bud Foster has typically done a better job coaching and convincing his players to do that, but I guess the tweaks in the way we were blocking it got him out of his gameplan and his guys got timid.

From my seat a mile away, it looked like 3 of their OL went out limping at various points. They’ve historically cried about our blocking more than anybody, but it doesn’t seem like other teams have a higher rate of injuries upfront against us. I wonder if the timid play, as you describe it, makes them more susceptible to injuries from cuts because they aren’t fighting off the blocks like most good teams do. Thoughts?

CPJ showed in 2012 with the Tevin/Vad QB committee that he is willing to put in a talented younger QB. If he puts TQM back in not because of loyalty. Has he decided the two-series-per-QB was a bad idea? Since TQM is so up and down, it would seem to make sense to go with whosever has the hot hand.

TO has moved the offense and scored TDs a large percentage of series he's been under center. If that's all that matters, why not keep the kid in there until he shows he can't do it and allow Marshall to be the change up if it gets to that point. All TO has done when he's been in the game was score.

I suspect that TQM would have had a good game against VT, and that TO would have struggled in the first half against Duke. I do think that TO is the better QB for this offense though, and as a redshirt freshman should probably take over. TQM only has 4 or 5 games of eligibility left and is not going to reach a higher level of play at this point. TO can use the experience to build on his talents. We will probably see both play a fair amount this season.

We only needed three plays all game. I'd be hella surprised if TO doesn't start against UNC.
I like the 3 play offense - it leaves more time to think about drinking between plays as opposed to trying to figure out what the next call should be.

TO cant throw worth a crap or make pitch reads. He ran over VT today because they hadn’t prepped for him. It will be a problem going forward because we’re not just going to run over teams like that with vanilla play calling.

This didn't age well
