i asked him why he was listening to the GT flagship station, why not listed to the Georgie flagship station... oh, there isnt one
 
He doesn't care about the polls, says they are stupid this time of the year.

He's talking about the team being beat up from the 12 day turn around and the changes they are making because of it.

Commenting on the defense and how they need to be focused and keep their eyes where they need to be. He says he doesn't care if they ran a 4-2-9.

Says the blocking at the perimeter was "atrocious" and we didn't have the ball enough. Says Clemson gave up 54 yards to BC and very few first downs and GT put 418 yards up and still won on crappy night on offense.

Says we are not good at anything right now on either side of the ball.

He said the real thing that killed us against MIA was that they rushed for 200 yards on us, and against good teams you have to take something away.

Says to many mistakes and mental errors on flags. There was also a very poor block in the back call on the first drive.

Because of the 3 games in 12 days, it caused players to miss a lot of class so 35 guys were out of practice yesterday. More today due to lab. The main part of this 12 day 3 game stretch had a large effect on players missing practice due to academic reasons. He says it's easier to get things like classes in sync with a regular schedule but this has thrown them off.

He says THE OFFENSE IS BETTER this time this year than last, but they are not as efficient.

He says there needs to be something they are really good at whether offense or defense and they are not really good at anything right now.
 
Says Orwin is a special guy and they need to get him on offense quick. He just needs to learn his reads.

Says Tarrant is special too, they just couldn't get MIA to punt. And it was frustrating.

Says it takes a special leadership and special team or be so talented so much so that you can win with your B or C game in order to show up for every game. He doesn't necessarily see that right now.
 
I hate listening to these things, because you can never hear the question being asked.

Tell your UGA buddy he is whining because our kids actually attend real classes. The Thursday games back to back forced players to miss tests. We had 35 players out of class during one practice in prep for UNC because of make-up tests. We have as many as 20 players miss film and strategy sessions because of labs.

In other interviews PJ has said it is easier at the Naval Academy from a scheduling standpoint because they do everything classwise early there...whereas at GT he said things are mostly in the afternoon.
 
I hadn't considered the academic problems of 3 games in 12 days.

Yeah, that must suck.
 
He says there has to be a burning desire to want to win every game.

Says he doesn't know why the game was so bad on Thursday. Says he has looked at himself to see if there is a coaching mistake.

Says they have to cut back on some of the stuff because it may be too much right now.

Says sometimes the other team just might be better than you.

Says they are not going to beat UNC by just wanting to win it. He says want is a bad misconception because "one good lick can change your "want to".
 
I had trouble hearing most of the questions, so I'm sure I missed some context. Best I can do is post some of the stuff he said.

Said that Miami did to us what we did to them a year ago. Said our effort was "a group effort."

Summarized the game, noting some of the errors we made.

Called it a frustrating game. Hopes they can move on.

Says UNC has "eye-popping numbers" on defense. Calls the game a big challenge.

Says Dwyer "is back."

Says he does not care about the polls; calls polls "ridiculous."

Robert Hall is out, Cooper Taylor, Reese are "very questionable."


Says our 418 yards against Clemson doesn't look so bad when BC got 54 against them.

Summarizes the Miami game again, detailing what we did wrong, how it could have been different, nothing all of us don't already know.

Calls blocking "atrocious."

Said, "On both sides of the ball, we're not really good at anything right now."

Talked about penalties in the Miami game...

Discussed how Thursday games cause players to miss class, which can botch practice schedules, said 35 guys were late to practice because of making up quizzes etc.

Says he thinks we are a better team this year. Says it's never as good or as bad as it seems. Says we're not as good as we need to be etc.

I actually thought this even during our thrashing at the hands of the Canes. I told a friend that was watching with me, that just about every failed offensive play was not great defense on Miami's part, but missed blocks/assignments on our part. I think our O is in good shape if they can get the fundamentals back in order.

JSU everyone whined we could have scored more, but we put up 37 points with starters getting a lot of rest. The same JSU team that held FSU to 7 until about 40 seconds left in the game.

Clemson, everyone whined that we almost threw it away, but look at what our offense did on a night where they faced one of the toughest lines they've seen. 300+ rushing yards. I'll take that.

Miami, it was there I think that's why it's more frustrating to me. If we'd lost to Clemson I wouldn't have been as upset because their defense was stout and really shut us down (despite us getting 300+). Whereas I felt Miami did not stop us....and yet we looked pathetic.
 
I agree 100% on CPJ's point that we've got too much stuff installed right now. He said that it's better to do a few things very well than to be inefficient at a bunch of things.

"If I knew why we played the way we played on Thursday night, we wouldn't have played that way."

He says that when the game is over, the first thing he looks at it himself. "What could I have done better?"

Takes part of the blame for the mental mistakes of the team. If they are making that many mental mistakes, it's the coach's responsibility (Paraphrasing here). Says nobody screws up because they want to.
 
Just my opinion here, but you could hear the pissed-off in his voice. Pissed off at himself, at the team, at the game. He didn't like what happened, and he seems pissed off talking about it and sick of thinking about it. He handled himself well, but he was not in a good mood at all. And I mean all this in a good way. I think he is itching like hell to play another game. If the team feels like he does, they are going to run out on the field 10 minutes before the Wreck this weekend. Based on all this, I expect them to come out like deranged ninjas this weekend.
