:laugher: It's like you want so badly for me to be proving your point for you and it's not happening, but you keep saying it anyway.Jacket, how badly can you miss a point?
I said we are arrogant going into bowl games in my very first post. I agreed with the original poster. I said we should have respect for LSU.
My point about our fan base being arrogant is debateable, I get that.
But if you are going to say "SO!" in response to me pointing out that LSU are the defending national champs, then certainly don't also argue that as a fan base we are NOT arrogant.
Give me a break. You are proving my original point that we as a fanbase are arrogant.
Its funny you said that, I was thinking the exact same thing. As a fanbase we certainly are pretty arrogant going into a game against the Defending National Champions. I made this mistake too 8 years ago.
:laugher:
You never said "We are arrogant going into bowl games." or any variation of that statement.
Still stretching. It wasn't implied, it wasn't anywhere in your original statement, nor in any conversation between you and gt23eric before I responded your post. You were saying that right now we are being arrogant about this game and compared it to one game in 2000.You're right i didn't say exactly that. That's such a far fetched drawn conclusion of what I did say. There's no way possible that is exactly what the original poster and i were even discussing. It can't even be inferred. I should be sent off to Thailand and beaten with a cane.
:pat:
Once again, I am dumber for having kept on posting.![]()
If that sort of thing is your bag, you should check out Singapore.I should be sent off to Thailand and beaten with a cane.

Retro-active implication doesn't apply, sorry.
my response:I was pretty cocky before the 2000 Peach Bowl. I won't make that mistake again. LSU can beat us until we prove otherwise.

Arrogant is rather strong. I'd say we have reason to be confident in our team's abilities considering how well we've played to this point.
The "defending national champion" title is about as meaningful as Georgia's preseason #1 ranking was.
If that sort of thing is your bag, you should check out Singapore.
A question arises in my mind over all this. If the phrase "Defending National Champion" has any meaning at all, then why aren't the "Defending National Champions" automatically given the #1 spot in the pre-season?
You don't have to answer this, I already know why. But it raises the point that "Defending National Champions" really doesn't mean jack after 12 games have been played and the current team is 7-5. It would really only carry weight if the team was no worse than 11-1 and playing in the MNC again.
No, making a reference to two individual bowl games does not in any way imply a blanket statement on Tech's bowl history. If you pointed out similarities between our win over UGAg this year and 1998, I'd never say that you were making commentary on the historical trends of the rivalry. So its not implied that we were discussing that as a fan base we are pretty arrogant going into bowls? Or maybe I should have clarified a wee bit more and said this bowl? Maybe against LSU in the Peach bowl we happen to be an arrogant fan base. Seriously. If its not implied you're being retarded. So its either implied, or you are being retarded.
Because I'm not cutting them down? I think there's a good chance we win the game comfortably. I also think there's a chance that LSU will win the game, but I don't think that .001% of the reason it happens would have anything to do with LSU's status as defending national champions or anything that entails.I agree with your first two sentences. But I feel as confident in our teams abilities as I did in 2000. I felt very confident then as we were ranked about the same and playing an LSU team that was not ranked as high as we were. We also just got finished demolishing UGA moreso than we did this year.
That said, your last sentence is contradicting to your first. If you're confident in your teams abilities and you aren;t arrogant then why make a statement cutting down the other team? You could have left that out and I would have nodded with approval. Not that you give a sh*t.
My principal in elementary school did this when I got to like 3rd grade. But she got legitimately angry at children for not calling her "Doctor _______."I think the "defending national champions" is emphasized just because it sounds impressive. You are honored the entire next season by referring to yourselves as this as well as having others do the same. IMO it's kind of like people who have a doctorate, don't need it for their job, but still insist on being called "Doctor _______"(btw, not trying to piss anyone off in here if this applies to you - I realize and respect your hard work).
