CPJ Show Live Thread

I'm curious to see if Oliver has that "it" factor. Read somewhere that he plays with a chip on his shoulder and is a fighter. That may be what this team needs.

All I know is that he ran way more downhill than Marshall does. When he was in there all of a sudden everyone was blocking and I think it’s because they had to hold their block for less time because once he found the hole north (HEY-O) he turned it up field before defenders were able to get off/up off the ground from our blockers.

TO was really quick finding a way to get north/south. He is a bigger guy too. Reminded me a little of Nesbitt.

Well, if we do practice S/T that much, that becomes a bigger indictment of the staff involved in that part of the game.

Bill Lewis, on his call in show, said the Exact same words about the Exact same part of our team at a certain point.

You seriously gonna compare CPJ to Bill Lewis?

CPJ says they have to do a better job of coaching the special teams, but acknowledged that we had 6 freshman on their first road trip game.

He took full ownership of the kickoff team. Full responsibility.

And the South Florida return man who took 2 back for TDs was also a freshman. He didn’t fumble, he didn’t pick the wrong running lane and run right into a tackle. If they aren’t making plays, then sky kick. The first return may be on the 6 freshmen. The second return was on CPJ for kicking to same guy.

Agree. Guys on the radio yesterday completely dismissed the whole “we played too many freshmen” notion from PJ. What did USF not play freshmen too? Again, CPJ blaming personnel rather than owning a complete coaching failure. In fact, CPJ kicking it a third time to the kid...was that decision the freshmen’s fault too? Are they down there with headset on now?

I think CPJ was blaming coaches for the decision to play so many inexperienced defensive players. He also said we should have rotated more on offensive side of ball.

Think he would fire himself for doing a poor job?

your mama and daddy lied when they said they were proud of you, so you should be used to it.
Look at you, three straight posts calling out another poster for pointing out what he considered poor coaching from Johnson! You remind me of some protesters that jump up & down trying to scream down anyones speech who disagrees with them!! Pitiful!

You misspelled your user name and have to point out that you know how to count! Good for you, son. Eat a sack lunch off my taint.

i didn't get to listen to the whole show, but between destinations, I caught a few minutes.

Coach made one comment that really rubbed me the wrong way. It related to personnel packages and playcalling. He said something to the effect of "I was calling the plays and didn't know who the hell we had in there..."

That just seems unacceptable at this level. One influences the other and vice versa.

maybe his old ass should start using a play sheet and two whole O teams. he can huddle with one team on the sideline then send everyone in at once alternating plays and his stubborn ass will know who is in there. He is right there on the field looking, how the hell does he not know who is in there.

I assume he meant that a little tongue in cheek. I took it that he was referring to the injuries that we had going on, and the frequent substitutions due to the heat.

Based on some of the other comments he made, he knew very well what was going on in the offense.

The Northside OG is what Tech needs right now. I have 100% confidence in Tobias being our next quarterback.

Hopefully so; like I said, I was missing some context while driving around.

You're saying he doesn't currently use a playsheet? How does he call plays? What manner of sorcery is this?
