Crazy Offensive Stats

This play looks familiar

It looked familiar to VanGorder too

BVG, certainly finds those stats Offensive.

He completed 50% of his passes last night.
I understand. But I have concerns. Something is not right. The pass plays are very scripted - not sure he can complete 50% under any kind of duress.

He hasnt shown proficiency in checkdowns and has had miscues on some option routes. Its a fair concern, particularly for games that we get behind.

He seems to be missing hot reads. I feel like we've had 5 passes thrown to no where because the WR has the corner lined up one way and QB sees it another way.
First play of the game was a TD if the WR runs the correct route.

I don't think that is on the WR. Marshall's head was on that side of the field the whole time, he knew the WR was cleared. It seemed like the ABack broke down his route because the defender had him beat deep. Everyone was covered, not sure how you'd say that play would be a TD.

Just my opinion but when I re-watched it, I imagined the receiver catching the ball in stride where TQ dropped it in and it seemed to me that there was only one guy to beat and he wasn't close enough to have made a stop.

I hate to be Debbie downer, but one of those games was against Bowling Green, and the other against a bad team.

So what.

Good teams beat bad teams too. This sort of offensive dominance Is unprecedented for just about anyone. It doesn’t mean we are a good or great team, but it is an encouraging improvement.

We can apparently only be happy beating Clemson, UGAg, or Alabama

The last two games have been fun to watch. The difference between now and how it felt to think we wouldn't win another game after the USF and Pitt losses is wild. We've pulled ourselves back to our feet, it's time to start using them to curbstomp. Can't think of a better team to begin with than Duke.

You could be happy over beating those teams, but it would be stupid because even if it happens once or twice it will definitely never happen again after that, not while Paul Johnson is still coach.

We should definitely install one of those exciting offenses like Florida or LSU has. Or perhaps Auburn.

Or we could just follow Alabama and UGAg's example and just go get the best 5* players and win that way

Amazed me me yesterday at the number of teams that couldn’t get a yard out the shotgun when needed. Or couldn’t run some time off the clock. There are some awful offenses out there.

Looking at you Vandy. The shotgun is not a good 4th and 1 offensive set.

Texas came very close to losing because they decided to throw a few incomplete passes with a three touchdown lead. Hell, does a team like Texas not have someone who can do math? 40 seconds per play can be run off the clock. Oklahoma would have had no time if Texas had a decent death march philosophy.

Hell, at times it even felt like there was another team out there trying to stop them.

Oh I agree 100% and I'm happy. But this is ST so I had to say that. It was also more me taking a shot at Loserville than anything.

TQM is what he is. A dynamic runner with extremely marginal passing skills who is learning how to make the right reads in this offense. When he make the right reads, we dont even need to pass. If we need him to pass, though, he's terrible. Dont pretend he is anything other than bad at passing. We just need him to make the layups and hit a wide open guy but if it's a two minute drill, we're doomed.
