We simplified on defense every single year under CPJ and we still sucked at defense. Not a solution. At this point, we need to simplify the defense as much as possible and remove the "overthinking" aspect for the players and let them play fast, hard and use their instincts. Sometimes, simplicity like that is the best anecdote to what we're seeing.
See ball, run to ball, get ball.
Not sure there is anything left to 'simplify' with the tackling. At this point, we need to simplify the defense as much as possible and remove the "overthinking" aspect for the players and let them play fast, hard and use their instincts. Maybe we can use our arms this game? Might be more complicated than just a shoulder, but worth the risk. Not sure there is anything left to 'simplify' with the tackling.
and i think they just scored againMiami is a bit faster & bigger than Bowling Green, who scored 38 straight points on us.
We couldn't match BC at home so......I expect the same order of ineptitude. What I do not understand is players NOT knowing how to tackle...it's a fairly instinctive skill is it not? How hard is to wrap up?
The only question about Saturday's game is whether our O can match Miami score for score.
Where is Ted now anyway?Maybe we can adjust to the 8th bubble screen in a row?

MORE BLITZING!!!
Where is Ted now anyway?
Miami agrees to let us have 12 on defense.I heard we're gonna run a 4-0-7
Id have to go back and look at his record when he actually had a decent defense, which I'm not going to do, but I could imagine that Roof could be a good DC if he was under a defensive minded head coach, like Venables, that was putting in the schemes and Roof just implemented his vision.I think he is celebrating in the OU locker room right at this minute. He is their DC.
DE often cover a backside zone. Especially on a LB blitz.Well, if I see a DE covering my running back on a wheel route, that's the first place I'm throwing it.
I can recall that happening three times last year - with Keion White in coverage (really? our best rush guy, covering a f'in wheel route? WTF?) and at least two went for long TDs and the other went for a long gain, about 50 yards, IIRC.
Good teams will have that scouted and be looking for that.
Here's a link to his Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_RoofId have to go back and look at his record when he actually had a decent defense, which I'm not going to do, but I could imagine that Roof could be a good DC if he was under a defensive minded head coach, like Venables, that was putting in the schemes and Roof just implemented his vision.
We can just say he was inexperienced under O'Leary, or maybe George gave him too much freedom.

Becomes a problem when you don’t have safety help.DE often cover a backside zone. Especially on a LB blitz.
