David Cutcliffe - Really?

That just sounded...bizzare and out of place in a weekly press concernce.

CPJ must've rustled those jimmies.

I don't know much about Cutcliffe, but I know he's always portrayed as a classy guy. Effectively trying to negatively recruit against your upcoming opponent in a press conference, going as far as to dismiss their receiving corps, is pretty bush league, though.

I wonder, is that more or less bush league than sending letters to recruits ahead of time saying "by the time you read this, we'll of beat so and so"?

Just telling it like he sees it. He was pretty complimentary for the most part if you watch the whole video. Still like Cutcliffe.

Still like him? Instead of strategizing a game plan of how to beat a coach he has never beaten previously, or instead of speaking about keys to the game, he is trashing on 23 year old kids. "Smelter and Waller are not Demaryius Thomas." Smelter has just as much potential as Bebe.

Again, öööö this guy.

What a butthurt loser. I don't know if I've ever seen anyone try to discount a team in their weekly press conference- usually you try to make them seem better than they are so either your win looks better or your loss does.

I wish he had a call-in show (maybe he does?) so we could call in after we beat them once again. "This is Deandre S. in Atlanta… What was that you said about me before I caught 3 TD passes on your team?"

Pretty good press conference actually, good listen. I didn't have that much of a problem about his comments, man really hates cut blocks and I think that's why he said most of what he said. And Smelter is not Calvin or Bay-Bay. Yet. Hopefully he will be though!

Is the weekly press conference normally where you strategize for upcoming opponents?

Yes, what he said was what recruits here over and over and over again. I know many of you want to believe that this negative recruiting doesn't work, but it does, and it does on both sides of the ball.

And this of course is added to the negatives that have always been used against GT, like academic difficulty, calculus, dangerous location, lack of females, etc, etc, etc.

It's hard to recruit for this kind of offense, but not as hard as recruiting for a team that hasn't been relevant since colored-only water fountains were a thing.

Negative recruiting only works when you hear it. You guys are 50% of the people listening to the Duke pregame presser...

Is the weekly press conference normally where you strategize for upcoming opponents?

Nope. It's also not normally where you marginalize the abilities of specific student athletes of the opposition. Seems like something Spurrier would do.

maybe the old ball coach left some of his press conference notes in Durham

Cutcliffe is going to have a big case of foot in mouth disease Saturday afternoon.

Seriously? It took this long to get a reference to that?
smh

I just hope we play our very best and, at the end of the game, he says, "That is the most terrible team that ever beat me seven years in a row. I hope recruits will understand how much better than Tech we are and not be fooled by things like the scoreboard."

And this coach daniel Radcliffe guy or whatever he's calling himself is buddies with Vad Lee. Wonder what he was telling VL during his offseason visits to the Duke campus?

After watching all of it, I didn't see that much negativity. Apart from the minute or two where he talks about Tech having a hard time recruiting solid guys and the thing with the WRs, there's a lot of praise. He talks about how hard it is to defend the option, and he actually praises the defense. I mean, if I were the coach, I would take his quotes of out of context and show them to the players to really piss them off and motivate them. But, overall, I don't see much to be mad about

Oh, don't worry, some GA has been at work all day cutting up the clip to reassemble to play for team just before they leave the lockerroom Saturday.

I assure you PJ was made aware of these comments pretty quickly....lets hope it motivates and helps
