Dennis Dodd of CBS Sportline says Gailey is already fired.

The main reason I believe CG will be back is it would be irrational for an AD to fire CG at this point.

The one comeback that the Gailey-haters don't send me is that AD's are ego-maniacs that believe they CAN build a better mousetrap.

It is entirely possible that Rad BELIEVES he can improve things and is going to do something.

When you look at Nebraska's coaching search I am not reassured that GT will have a better coach than present. The same article talks about ugag's def coord for the Nebraska job, hehe.

These socalled journalists are nothing more than internet bloggers. IMO

But we will see. Like I have said I have 50yd line seats so I have vested interest. I can't just turn off my tv until they improve if a new coach tanks.

I would be surprised if this article is accurate but it will not be the first or last time I am surprised.

That is quite shocking. This is not coming from some second or third rate news/editorial outlet. This guy is a senior sports writer for CBSsports.com. If you notice, he didn't say it's rumored or I've heard it on the grape vine. He makes an assertion that CCG has told someone on staff that he will be fired......interesting.

I still find it hard to believe. I would think Gailey would pull a Dan Reeves and tell DR to shove it up his poop shoot if he was made privy to the fact that this was it at mid stream, and I wouldn't blame him. Maybe it's just a vibe CCG has picked up on in Rad's demeanor and he actually did tell an assistant coach he would be out at the end of the year. Disappointing if true.

If I recall correctly, Dodd is an idiot.

All that I'm curious about is whether D Rad will make a statement regarding this declaration.

This is BS. He hasn't told an assistant that, he has been working his butt off to save his job. Dan hasn't went up and just said sorry Chan your done after the season unless Chan just feels like he cant do what Dan asked of him.

I don't buy it. I don't believe DRad would make a decision like that mid-season. Or, even if he has made the decision, I sincerely doubt he would let it be know to anyone.

I don't believe it either. There are just too many games left to be making a decision like that. Also, seeing the parity in the game today 9-3 or 8-4, although not up to some people's expectations because of the lack of an ACCCG, are still great seasons and still very much attainable.

As far as I'm concerned he isn't gone until he's gone.

An AD isn't going to make a statement every time a writer posts a rumor about a coach being fired. Otherwise there would be a continuous flow of press releases coming out of half the programs in the country.

This would be the best thing that could happen, otherwise we go through the same **** next year. CCG will never unite the Tech faithful.

The thing I found interesting about this post is that you said he is working his butt off to "save his job". To me that makes it sound like the decision really has already been made to some degree, but I could just be reading it wrong.

Also, the thread title is a bit misleading. He said there are "indications" that Gailey will be fired, and that Chan has already told one assistant that. That's not really the same thing as asserting that Gailey will be fired...all it takes is one assistant embellishing something that Chan said, and there you go. If you look at the items around it, they're mostly of the same nature.

Law, it would be illogical for anything to happen now, but it's completely logical that Chan knows what was expected of him this year and that he's waking the razor's edge to accomplish it. And if we have an AD who doesn't believe he can help establish a program that competes at the top level of the ACC I don't want him, just as I don't want a coach who doesn't believe he can compete for championships most every year. We aren't there now, so attempts to get us there are expected. DRad's only decision imo is whether we can get there with Chan or not. If he thinks the answer is no, he's obligated to start over with a new coach. Otherwise he's not doing his job.

He hasn't lost his job yet. If he doesn't do what is wanted of him then he will. He knows what it is. So really he is playing out the rest of the season knowing a mistake and he is gone, no mistakes and he has new life, so that is essentially saving his job.

If Gailey feels this is true why would he "work his but off". He could just sit back and chill and take his $4.4M payoff and sail into the sunset. He could still get another gig at a Valdosta State or Jacksonville State probably.

I hope that is true and that Gailey finally fears for his job, but if he wins out he could still earn a stay. However that seems about as likely as us winning the ACCCG this year.

If we continue our winning season and bowl streak and fire our coach I would be disappointed. I would also predict our next coach would be a downgrade. The next few seasons would be losing ones in order for the new vcoach to make his case for how "down" the program was when he arrived.

On a game by game basis I am willing to critique Gailey and the staff. But overall I think he has done a good job.

My 8 yr. old daughter could coach better then Gailey. I don't understand how someone with your intelligence can back this joke of a head coach we have.
