Dennis Dodd of CBS Sportline says Gailey is already fired.

If we continue our winning season and bowl streak and fire our coach I would be disappointed. I would also predict our next coach would be a downgrade. The next few seasons would be losing ones in order for the new vcoach to make his case for how "down" the program was when he arrived.

On a game by game basis I am willing to critique Gailey and the staff. But overall I think he has done a good job.

I could not agree more. If they did fire him I would have to re-look at my commitment to the program. I would have a problem supporting an administration that would act in such a manner. I am a long time season ticket purchaser as well as being a nearly sixty year side walk fan.

I have always expected Tech to act in a more rational and ethical way than that. That is one of the main reasons I became a Tech fan initially because they never did things like the ugag's of our day untill .

You've accepted mediocrity.

That is quite shocking. This is not coming from some second or third rate news/editorial outlet. This guy is a senior sports writer for CBSsports.com. If you notice, he didn't say it's rumored or I've heard it on the grape vine. He makes an assertion that CCG has told someone on staff that he will be fired......interesting.

I still find it hard to believe. I would think Gailey would pull a Dan Reeves and tell DR to shove it up his poop shoot if he was made privy to the fact that this was it at mid stream, and I wouldn't blame him. Maybe it's just a vibe CCG has picked up on in Rad's demeanor and he actually did tell an assistant coach he would be out at the end of the year. Disappointing if true.

No, he didn't say he heard it on the grapevine. Instead, it is an unsubstantiated and unspecified secondhand account of what a third person may or may not have said. It may be a credible rumor, but it is still a rumor.

If Gailey feels this is true why would he "work his but off". He could just sit back and chill and take his $4.4M payoff and sail into the sunset. He could still get another gig at a Valdosta State or Jacksonville State probably.

I hope that is true and that Gailey finally fears for his job, but if he wins out he could still earn a stay. However that seems about as likely as us winning the ACCCG this year.

Jacksonville State! my Gamecocks gettin some luv on Stingtalk baby. I'm a Sr. @ Jax.St now

"I evaluate the program at the end of the season. That has not changed, and we have a lot of football left to play in 2007."

This D Rad quote is very telling. A normal AD in a normal state of affairs would've said that Gailey has got a contract and he has no intention of firing him...but he is definitely thinking about it.

Now THIS is real "insider" information--this guy's in Radakovich's head!

You know the old saying: "Wish in one hand, crap in the other and see which one fills up the fastest."

why is dem on the computer at 40 mins before kick off????????????? Shouldn't he be in the locker room?

Dennis did not present it as rumor, credible or not. If it's unsubstantiated, then he shouldn't report it in the manner he did. If the info is obtained second and not first hand, the point of being a journalist is to substantiate and corroborate your source, so people will put a little bit of stock in what you write, no?

I'm probably giving Dennis too much credit. After all, it was reported on a sports hacks web blog. It's not like it was the CBS evening news with Dan Rath....ooops, forgot, he's not there any more. I just thought it was a pretty astounding assertion to throw out there...especially in the meat of recruiting season. He must have stayed at a Holliday Inn Express on Thursday night ;)

On my computer, the difference between the post time and Eastern time is 4 hours which puts the posts around 9:40.
