I'm not a fan of BuzzOff at all, but I'm kind of curious to see this backed up with some kind of fact or a more detailed explanation of your opinion.

Otherwise it's hyperbole worthy of a presidential debate.

Hence my thread name I picked 5 years ago, I have always agreed with Old foggy on this matter. The guy is just not smart. We have never had an offense. Calvin gave Gailey a 4 year reprieve (3 years while he was here and this year) to the detriment of us the ticket-holders (and even then he couldnt get a qb or even throw the ball to Calvin more than a few times a game.) I always thought I would give him the benefit of the doubt if he would get out of the OC job and bring someone in- but sure enough, he cant even do that and is in the middle of everything from what I am told down there- and Im talking play-calling to this to that. Offense puts seats in the stands and is how you win at GT- Tenuta has done as much with smoke and mirrors as he can possibly do. Its time. We have no offense, never had a qb, runs off other qb's, and manages the game like its the damn NFL- its boring ass football. But this is nothing new to me. My expectations were 7-5 when I heard all the 10-2, 9-3 predictions. I thought Gailey had left and I didnt know it when I heard all those before the season. The 1 constant is Chan Gailey. The buck stops at the guy making over 1million dollars and always will. And before he leaves, hopefully after this season, maybe he will once, just once take some responsibility which he has never let come out of his mouth.

Chan Gailey has done nothing worse than have a constant record of winning seasons and bowl games. Granted, we all want and expect to do better, but in the overall scheme of things, the program is certainly no worse, and probably somewhat better off than when he took over.

While there have been academic scandals and NCAA sanctions while he was here, they were not due to his actions, and in fact one might say he's done pretty well not to lose more than he has in some years due to those incidents.

Put simply, although we as fans have been disappointed in the past 5 season's results, at the end of the day, his tenure has not been harmful to the overall program, IMO. Hasn't taken upward and forward, unfortunately, but no harm done.

OTOH, that dispicable board moderator and many (not all!!) of the posters have demonized the coach and anyone who objected to their outrageous, over the top accusastions and fabrications, they have liabled and trashed the students athletes who put it on the line every game, some openly advocate pulling for Tech to lose.

Their venom and bile has contributed more to the 'division of the fan base' than a string of 5 loss seasons. How many recruits have been put off by their incredibly negative outlook? Every coach has critics, every player expects there to be criticism, but a board that does not allow people who are positive about the program to post on it is way overboard. There is no good coming from bussoff.

Hyperbole? Perhaps a bit, but not all that much.








That said, the Gailey era is coming to a close. I wish it could have been better, but we've done much worse.

Excuse me, but these coaches are paid very well. If they can't stand the heat they need to get out of the fire - this stuff comes with the territory.

These folks are hired to do a job better than the last guy or at least as good - that has not happened with Chan Gailey!:hsugh:
 
Well, with the number of seniors leaving, we likely won't be very good next year whoever's going. I wonder how quickly Buzzoff will turn on the new guy after a few losses next year.

Come on, every school has fans who criticize the program. In fact, it's healthy. Besides, do we really want kids who base their collegiate decisions on things people say on message boards? Let's be honest...Give our Student-Athletes more credit than that.

qft. Chan isn't a terrible coach. But at this point fair-to-middlin isn't cutting it, and DRad has to show some signs of progress or we will start to regress for real.

It wouldn't matter if EVERYONE on buzzoff were as you say they are. The moderator is a psycho who hates Tech and he will continue to agitate and foster an environment of hatred.
 
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Chan should have been fired after the 51-7 loss to Georgia. That game more than anything showed what Gailey was all about: Lack of preparation. Lack of motivation.

51-7 part 1 was the first major warning. But 51-7 part 2 should have been the final warning. If there were any Chan supporters after that point, they were either not really paying much attention to Tech sports (i.e. ignorant) or they were just being willfully obstinate (i.e. hate to admit when they were wrong).

At that point, it was time to just man up. That was really the major turning point. I think it should have been made clear at that point, if you continue to support Gailey, then you must agree to leave when he does.

Let me say that again. Another way.

If you supported Gailey after 51-7 part 2, you do not DESERVE to be a Tech fan. You should depart from any Tech event and never return at such time as Gailey is evicted from Tech's campus. You and Chan and the rest of you Gailey supporters can go play rec league football somewhere.

Now... there have been a lot of jonny-come-latelies to the party. A lot of Chan-bashers are trying to jump on the Can-Chanwagon. I say to you: Get out of my face.
