No, he said that the best defensive lineman he played against last season was Jabari Hunt. No way.
Who did he play against last season that was better than Jabari?

I think JJ was joking around, but your post is spot on. And I didn't know that about the coaches ranking players, that's interesting. Is it a by-position type deal, like a depth chart, or do they rank all players against each other?
The D was not good today, or the last game. But they are not the main problem this season, and they are far from the worst we've seen during CPJ's tenure.
the problem is that THIS def should be good with SIX Srs--with 2 JRs --if this is the best we got what about next yr? scary
Because football is played with 1st & 2nd half?
In other words, at least 3 of the last 4 games our D has not come out ready to play. Our D never gets a good pass rush.
And because D & ST are just as important to winning as O. Actually I think D is the most important of the 3. JMO
You can really tell how little some people know about the game of football when they come on here and start complaining about the defense.
Only gave up 10 points in the 2nd half.
I fail to see a problem with that.
When your big guys suck, you have to bring pressure and that doesn't mean a linebacker up a clogged up middle. Why do you think Clay had sacks? That makes it better for the inside guys. The defense is ill configured to do what Roof wants and the offense is ill configured to do what Johnson wants. What I see are coaches who refuse to tailor their plan to what we have.
Ok, I'll bite. Based on what we have on offense, particularly the offensive line, how would you tailor the offense to be more effective?
There is a significant deficiency on the defensive front. I would entertain a 3-4 because we do have good linebackers. Train whitehead as a linebacker and move Trey Klock to defensive end. I would move Gotsis to an end position and Gamble at nose with Freeman as a rush end. The kid, (51) is a reak good ball player and Victor Alexander is a good player. We have nothing to lose at this point but another game. The opposing teams would fear the Gotsis side and that may enable the defense to get some stops. I would also entertain a little more man on man.
