Donavaughn Campbell

I think the opposite when I see those tweets to be honest.

Seems to me that people saying they'd take care of his family if he played for LSU are being told, look, this is about me and what I want to do with MY life!

I really don't have my hopes up in getting him. I feel like it would be a coup if we take a 4* prospect from the clutches of LSU...Granted we did get Derrick Morgan from Penn State back in '07 and all these PWO's has me wondering if Paul knows they're coming and won't have the scholarships b/c several of the visits this past weekend went well.

Or you offer a PWO then upgrade them to a scholarship if you end up having room. That's how it went with Brad Stewart. So it may just mean PJ thinks we have a chance.

Yes that too...but part of me still wanted to see the glass 100% full (50 air/50 water).

While I love the idea of getting big talent, I am not a fan of gray shirting other talent that has already committed to us, whether that is until spots open up in a future class or if we don't get "our guy". I know a lot changes with recruits, and that they are woefully inconsistent, but I like to think we can still win without skirting the rules. Maybe it says to the people that want to play here, "we'll take you, but we don't have scholarship room right now," but I can't help but read it as, "you're not our guy even though you committed to us."

Think of the children.

Somewhere, Saban is laughing at you right now.

Does he really need to announce that he's gonna announce. Seems like a look at me tweet.

With all the "look at me posts" on here, I had a chuckle at your post.

A lot of people are wanting to know when he is going to announce. He has people from all over calling him and probably aggravating this piss out of him about his recruitment.

It was a nice and probably smart thing he did to tweet about his announcement.

Let the high school kid have his 20 seconds. Not to mention he's an OLineman. Probably won't happen again. Not the most glorified position.

I don't disagree at all. But it is the way of the world now. Sad for the kids.

Only problem I have with it is if the kid doesn't know the full story up front. If you're misleading him and then pull the rug out from under him, that's a problem.

But why would I have any issue with our coaches telling a kid the deal up front and letting him decide?

The fact of the matter is we don't grayshirt because we typically can't grayshirt. Recruits aren't typically waiting in line to come play for us and they're typically not willing to pay their own way for a year when they can get a scholarship elsewhere.

Perversely funny that 10 minutes before he announces he's retweeting someone saying he's about to make his announcement in 10 minutes
